Location - Onsite Rochester, NY 14623 (would consider hybrid with WFH option 1 day per week)

Summary: The Employee Relations Manager champions initiatives that create an environment in which the employees feel valued, can be successful and are engaged. The Manager provides guidance on matters involving performance, behavior, conflict prevention and dispute resolution, and hourly and salaried employment practices.

The Manager responds to and evaluates employee relations issues with a high level of customer focus and sensitivity. Utilizing their HRIS experience, the Manager utilizes data collected to identify trends and patterns and will report on findings.

Essential Functions

  • Provide exceptional customer service to employees, both locally and in remote locations.
  • Via ADP Lyric, manages the full electronic performance management process including annual performance evaluations, disciplinary actions and performance improvement plans.
  • Maintains job descriptions, including management of the job titles in the HRIS.
  • Assists with the development and implementation of employee relations policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Assist with electronic organization/recordkeeping related to hiring, terminations, credentialing, transfers, and promotions, particularly as related to Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), affirmative action, and diversity initiatives.
  • Administers the equal employment opportunity and affirmative action programs with the assistance from contracted preparer.
  • Handle all Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and State Division of Human Rights (SDHR) complaints in conjunction with legal counsel and HR management.
  • Acts as an advisor for managers on employee relations and labor relations issues.
  • Conducts internal investigations related to employee concerns and escalate investigations to the Director of Human Resources as needed.
  • Conducts exit interviews, summarizes findings, and prepares reports showing trends and concerns for management to review.
  • Assists with Human Resources aspects of Department of Health audits.
  • Co-chairs the Safety Committee.
  • Investigates reported worksite incidents and prepares monthly reports for the Senior Leadership Team
  • Continuously looks for areas of improvement in employee relations.
  • Assists with leadership development training.
  • Other duties/projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualtifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related field; will consider equivalent related work experience in lieu of degree.
  • A minimum of 3 yrs of experience applying general HR practices in a corporate setting (union or non union).
  • 3 yrst experience with employee relations matters required.
  • Working knowledge of federal and NYS employment regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality.
  • Customer service focused mindset, high level of professionalism required.
  • Demonstrated fluency with HRIS systems, particularly in electronic performance management, onboarding, offboarding, transfers, promotions and demotions.
  • Exceptional computer skills and MS Office proficiency (Word, Excel and Powerpoint)
  • Using critical thinking and past HR technical experience, must be adept at researching, building and analyzing reports related to a variety of HR topics.
  • Must be willing to travel across out footprint in NYS (Rochester, Liverpool, Oneonta, Glens Falls and Plattsburgh).
  • Valid Driver's licensed with satisfactory driving record required.
