The Employment Coordinator position provides critical services and counsel to refugees, asylees and other immigrants as they search for initial employment or seek career advancement and job upgrade opportunities. This position assists refugees and those granted asylum to become economically self-sufficient by preparing them for employment, utilizing employer contacts to place them in jobs, counselling on job upgrades and career pathway opportunities, and maintaining and expanding an employer network.Role & Responsibilities

- Client Services
- Screen incoming refugee arrivals and other participating populations for eligibility for Match Grant and other employment-based programs.
- Provide employment orientation for WRT clients and MG orientation when applicable
- Provide employment counseling to clients that may include individual meetings, informing about job prospects, following up on job leads, and reviewing available career pathway opportunities.
- Work collaboratively with other members of WRT to creatively address barriers to self-sufficiency.
- Provide mediation services between clients and outside entities (i.e., neighbors, landlords, volunteers, service providers, etc.), and additional adjustment counseling as needed.
- Assess client's skills and experience in order to develop an employment plan with reasonable goals and strategies that will lead to employment.
- Develop contacts and relationships with new employers to increase interest in hiring WRT clients as well as maintain and strengthen existing employer relationships.
- Teach and/or coordinate Vocational Skills Training Class and other classes using prepared curriculum.
- Schedule clients for weekly Vocational Skills Training Class.
- Schedule interpreters when needed.
- Provide follow-up and case management to support clients post job placement. Administrative Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate records of client files, case notes, database entries, and reporting records
- Satisfying documentation and reporting requirements in accordance with state and federal grant standards
- Submit monthly, semi-annual, and annual program reports in collaboration with the Opportunity Services Manager
- Actively participate in department meetings, staff development opportunities, program trainings, community activities, and organizational events
- Provide supervision and accountability for interns in collaboration with the internship program.
- Work with community colleges to ensure that clients are enrolled in classes as appropriate.
- Arrange transportation for clients to orientations, classes, and job interviews as needed.
- Perform other duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- BA/BS and background in social services or case management preferred
- Experience in volunteer or project coordination preferred
- Highly self-motivated with strong follow-through and problem-solving skills
- Direct-service experience with vulnerable populations preferred

- Valid driver's license, regular access to vehicle, and ability/willingness to drive clients to appointments
- Occasional evenings or weekends required
$17 - $19 an hour
