Job Description:

Responsible for coordinating all client employment and marketing clients to employers in one of our residential community release programs. This role includes conducting career counseling and vocational assessment, documenting client's employment and progress, linking clients to vocational training opportunities, and marketing clients to local employers. Applicants must have vocational counseling experience. This position is in person in Camden, New Jersey.

Scope of Duties:

  • Place clients in employment or vocational training before discharge from the program.
  • Develop relationships with prospective employers and employment opportunities based on the local labor market, demand occupations, and resident interests, skills, and aptitudes.
  • Market clients to local employers and coordinate efforts with the Department of Labor and other employment services.
  • Link client to vocational training opportunities through local vocational/technical schools and county employment and training programs.
  • Document client employment and progress in the client's permanent file, and collect data as required by funding sources.
  • Verify all client employment in accordance with funding source requirements.
  • Visit all work sites within two weeks of the client beginning employment.
  • Conduct career counseling and vocational assessments for clients in the program within a two-week orientation period.
  • Conduct job readiness and job retention classes monthly at a minimum or as needed in the program.
  • Coordinate quarterly job fairs and monthly on-site recruitments with prospective employers for program participants.
  • Supervise job coaches where applicable.
  • Participate in required internal/external Treatment Team meetings.
  • Conduct drug and alcohol screens as directed or needed and report results to the supervisor.
  • Interact with clients, staff, and outside contacts with respect and courtesy.
  • Maintain client and staff confidentiality in compliance with administrative policies and procedures.
  • Attend and participate in regularly scheduled staff meetings, supervisory conferences, and training sessions.

A Bachelor's Degree and 2 years appropriate experience in duties related to locating jobs for the general public or a specific population, and 1-year experience in job search and job retention methods. Experience includes vocational counseling, implementing vocational assessment tests, working with clientele in job placement and employability skills, career networking, and assertiveness. Knowledge of the local labor market and job opportunities is helpful. Must possess a valid driver's license.
