Job Description:
Role:The EMR Application Specialist is responsible for the management, configuration, development planning, user training, and support for the Allscripts Touchworks Electronic Medical Record system. Works as a team member with other Information Technology (IT) project members to accomplish various projects such as training, system configuration, application development, upgrades, installation and various other projects. Responds to support and report development requests from end users. Must be able to work as needed after hours and weekends.EMR Application Specialist Essential Functions & Responsibilities:Provide support for the application and associated/related software, utilizing and managing through appropriate channels.Manage and maintain master files and dictionaries and the configuration of the assigned application. Provides effective methods for inputting clinical information to the chart.Participates in the evaluation, planning, training and management of upgrades to the EMR system.Reporting needs management, planning and development.Provide on-call technical support.Abide by the Clinic policy and procedure manual including working well with all members of the team.Performance Measures:To satisfactorily provide support and training to all end users of the application.Assess and advise to the proper use of the application to the fullest utilization of the application.Maintain a satisfactory priority schedule of jobs that need to be completed by day, week and month. Ensure that the work performed is complete and accurate.Knowledge in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with clinic staff, vendors and external agencies.Communicate effectively and be self-directed and motivated to provide excellent service and care.Solve problems through thorough research and analysis.Knowledge & Skills:Experience: At least two year's experience working with the All scripts TouchWorks EMR system; structured notes, entering discrete data, orders, etc.Education: Prefer at least a two year college degree. A RN of LPN is highly desirable for the position.Interpersonal Skills: The ability to motivate and educate doctors, advanced practice providers, nurses and support staff, and to be a student and advocate of workflow.Physical Requirements:Requires sitting and putting data into computer all day long.Requires some bending, stretching or reaching.Requires physical dexterity to operate keyboard and to view terminal for long periods of time without eyestrain.Occasional need to lift up to 50 lbs. above their heads to lift boxes of paper into printer or moving audit books and source document boxes.Knowledge of clinical workflow, practices and terminology.This Job Description is not a complete statement of all duties and responsibilities comprising the position.
