Monitors the quality improvement process and seeks to continually improve the provision of Emergency Medical Services.PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develops, teaches, and evaluates curriculum related to departmental operations, and emergency medical techniques. Responsible for providing EMS support and instruction to all personnel including legal liabilities, certifications, health issues, logistics, protocol, procedure, guideline development, and incident support.
- Responds to and provides necessary medical oversight on mass casualty incidents and multiple patient scenes.
- Responds to other medical and public assist incidents on a regular basis to maintain expertise and provide necessary oversight. May respond to and assist in the management of fire and hazardous materials incidents if so qualified.
- Maintains QI trend files, investigates EMS related incidents as needed, monitors WI sentinel and frequency indicators, provides coaching and counseling related to performance.
- Acts as liaison with other EMS agencies and provides assistance to those who use or anticipate using the services or EMS.
- Coordinates and trains on the provision of EMS programs within the department and with outside agencies and organizations including representing the Department at political meetings, civic organizations, schools, and various group presentations.
- Prepares and administers an EMS budget. Ensures that the program operates in a cost effective, efficient manner.
- Determines, develops, and suggests modifications or revisions to EMS program.
- Develops and oversees contracts for EMS equipment preventive maintenance, supply and physicians. Develops and implements programs aimed at EMS public education and prevention.
- Undertakes long-term planning for EMS services and EMS Prevention, and provides support to line personnel directly or indirectly.
- Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTSEducation: High School Diploma or G.E.D. Experience: Four (4) years as a working paramedic, Registered Nurse, or Physician.Preferred:
- Experience in EMS and Training program development and preparation of responses to competitive bid for ambulance service highly preferred.
- Experience working with local and state governments of matters relating to ambulance and emergency service planning and regulation preferred.
Knowledge of:
- Knowledge of management concepts and decision making processes including political and organizational structures of public jurisdictions.
- Ability to use and understand Fire EMS reporting system.
- Familiarity with accounting practices and have ability to prepare budgets as well as set program goals and determine the impact of goals.
- Knowledge of and ability to use various personal computer software applications, includes Microsoft Excel, Word, and Powerpoint.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently.

Certification/Licensing :
- Paramedic License
