TheEmergency Medical Services Lab Assistant assists in the laboratory andsimulation setting in the Emergency Medical Technician Program. Our LabAssistants have obtained and maintain current, unrestricted, and appropriatestate and national certification and/or licensure where applicable and haveearned appropriate education. These certifications and licensures must beprovided, as requested, to meet state and national accreditation requirements.The Learning Specialists must be proficient in all areas of pre-hospital patientmanagement and interventions, communicate effectively, assess studentsobjectively and work as part of a team. Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- Provide instruction in EMT courses to students on various topics in basic emergency care procedures and patient management;
- Supervise and/or evaluatestudents through skills practice in the proper procedures for safe andeffective use of EMS equipment and simulation manikins under the directionof the Instructor/Coordinator or lead instructor;
- Coordinate and facilitategroups of students and superviseopen lab, as needed;
- Maintaincurrent working knowledge of prehospital practices;
- A good workingknowledge of the EMS curriculum and teaching methodology;
- Maintain appropriate paperwork and documentation;
- Collaboratewith the lead instructor and other lab assistants concerning students'academic progress and needs;
- Prepare EMTlab sessions with the appropriate materials and equipment necessary toeffectively teach or evaluate EMT skills for each student under thedirection of the Instructor/Coordinator or lead instructor;
- Maintain a safe lab environment during skills training and evaluation sessions;
- Must attend at least one department meeting each semester;
- Carry out other related duties as assigned by the Dean consistent with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

- MA EMT certification in good standing with no history of suspension or revocation;
- Current AHA BLS certification;
- Three (3) years of experience as an EMT functioning on an emergency response ambulance
