Join our team and make good happen!Responsibilities:This position requires assessment, coordination, and prioritization of care of a patient upon HPMT staff arrival. Responsibilities include quickly coordinating care of patients in order to expedite treatment and/or transportation to the appropriate receiving facility or patient's home. Communicating and interacting with other medical staff, EMS, fire, and police personnel, as necessary, and observing, participating and managing overall patient care to facilitate care and resolve issues or potential problems. The EMT may provide work direction to other basic care providers; perform and document dependent functions such as carrying out EMS Medical Directors medical orders and performing diagnostic and treatment procedures; providing a safe environment; coordinate, communicate, interpret, and explain patient care services to the patient, family, EMS personnel and health professionals. The EMT will determine the most appropriate and safest way of transporting patient to the destination. The EMT will demonstrate safe driving skills, and communicate with dispatch and/or receiving facility in a professional manner. The EMT will accurately document patient care in the approved ePCR system.Qualifications:Education: High school diploma or GED required. Experience: None required. One year of a clinical experience in an emergency medical setting preferred.Licensure/Certification:
  • EMT certified in the State of MN.
  • Current AHA BLS Healthcare provider certification.
  • Will be required to complete all EMT (BLS Provider) competencies and applicable endorsements as outlined in the Office of the EMS Medical Director's Credentialing Manual within 6 months of hire.
  • Will be required to complete all MN Department of Transportation (DOT) required Specialized Transportation Services (STS) training within 45 days of hire.
  • Possesses a current driver's license within state of residency.
Must meet MN DOT STS Driver requirements, if applicable to job assignment. A driver must, for the past three years:
  • Have not had a driver's license canceled, revoked or suspended.
  • Have a driving record clear of conviction for driving a motor vehicle without a valid current license for the class of vehicle drive.
  • Have a driving and criminal record clear of convictions for driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance under MN statutes or an ordinance in conformity with that section, of alcohol-related driving by commercial vehicle drivers under MN Statutes and of driver's license revocations under MN Statues.
  • Pass DOT physical examination
