Job Title: Endoscopy RNLocation: Springfield, MA Shift: 07:AM - 17:30PMContract: 13 WeeksPay Package: Local-$60/hr On W2 (Without Benefits)Travel: $28hr on W2 + $1400(Weekly non taxable stipend) =Weekly Gross: $2408Job Summary:The Endoscopy RN provides care for patients undergoing endoscopic procedures, ensuring patient safety and comfort throughout the process. The RN works collaboratively with the healthcare team to prepare patients, assist physicians during procedures, and monitor patients post-procedure, delivering high-quality care in line with medical guidelines and facility protocols.Key Responsibilities:
Pre-Procedure Care: - Assess patients' health status and medical history prior to the procedure, ensuring they are fit for endoscopy.
- Educate patients and their families about the procedure, answering questions and addressing concerns.
- Administer pre-procedure medications as prescribed by the physician.
- Ensure patient consent forms are signed and properly documented.
Assistance During Procedure: - Assist the physician during endoscopic procedures such as gastroscopy, colonoscopy, bronchoscopy, and others.
- Prepare and maintain endoscopy equipment, ensuring proper functioning and sterilization.
- Monitor the patient's vital signs (e.g., heart rate, oxygen levels) and respond to any changes during the procedure.
- Assist with the collection of specimens (biopsies, etc.) and ensure proper labeling and handling.
Post-Procedure Care: - Monitor patients in the recovery area, assessing for any adverse reactions or complications from the procedure or sedation.
- Provide post-procedure instructions to patients and caregivers regarding recovery, follow-up appointments, and home care.
- Document all nursing care, including assessments, procedures, medications, and patient responses in the electronic health record (EHR).
Equipment and Room Preparation: - Ensure all endoscopy suites are cleaned, prepared, and stocked with the necessary equipment and supplies.
- Maintain strict adherence to infection control and safety protocols.
- Perform routine checks and maintenance of endoscopic equipment to ensure optimal functionality.
Collaboration and Teamwork: - Work closely with gastroenterologists, surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive patient care.
- Participate in team briefings, debriefings, and continuous improvement efforts within the endoscopy department.
Patient Advocacy and Education: - Act as a patient advocate, ensuring patient rights are respected throughout their care.
- Educate patients on pre-procedure preparations and post-procedure care to ensure optimal recovery and outcomes.
Qualifications:
- Current RN license in [State].
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as an RN, with experience in endoscopy, gastroenterology, or surgical nursing preferred.
- Knowledge of endoscopy procedures, patient safety, and recovery processes.
- Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
