Job Description:This position is responsible for providing technical support and general assistance during Endoscopy procedures under the supervision of nurses and physicians. The Endoscopy Tech is responsible for preparing equipment and procedure rooms for procedures.Posting SpecificsPay Range: $16.24/hour + depending on experienceBenefits Eligible: NoShift Details: PRN/Variable Hours. On-call weekend shifts requiredDepartment: Gastrointestinal Lab, St. Mary's Medical Center (Grand Junction, Colorado)ScopeAs an Endoscopy Tech you need to know how to:Anticipates the need for supplies and equipment; collaborates with the Charge Nurse and/or Manager to ensure adequate supplies and properly functioning equipment are available in the department.Identifies the need for and implements work orders as necessary for malfunctioning equipment.Receives and facilitates appropriate communication by answering inquiries and directing patients, families, and visitors as needed.Consistently sets up and prepares procedure room and equipment (casespecific) prior to endoscopy. (Equipment includes light source, processor,printer and monitor).Demonstrates knowledge, proficiency and trouble shooting skills in the use of endoscopic equipment.Cleans and processes endoscopic equipment following appropriate infectioncontrol/aseptic guidelines.Monitors quality assurance sterility checks on Steris processors.Restocks procedure rooms and equipment carts.Serves as primary assist to physician with all endoscopic procedures to include Colonoscopy, Flexible Sigmoidoscopy, EGD, Dilations, PEG placements, Biopsy Retrieval, ERCP, Sphincterotomy, Stent Therapy, Cautery, Band Ligation, and Polypectomy..Minimum QualificationsHigh School diploma or equivalent, requiredMinimum of three (3) months of related experience, requiredPrevious GI experience preferredCurrent Colorado Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) or directly related experiencePhysical Requirements:Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items.
