Energetics (Mechanical) Design Engineer - Alton, IL

DESCRIPTION:

The Energetics Design Engineer - will be responsible for the design, development and testing of energetic materials and products.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Product Development: Lead and contribute to the development of new energetic materials and chemical products, from concept to commercialization.
  • Material Characterization: Conduct testing and analysis of energetic materials to evaluate performance, stability, and compatibility.
  • Process Optimization: Collaborate with manufacturing teams to optimize production processes for efficiency and quality control.
  • Safety and Compliance: Ensure that all products meet safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements through rigorous testing and documentation.
  • Technical Support: Provide technical support to internal teams, customers, and partners regarding product specifications, applications, and troubleshooting.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to drive continuous improvement and innovation.

BACKGROUND PROFILE:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Solid understanding of energetic materials, combustion processes, and chemical kinetics.
  • Experience in product development, characterization techniques, and quality control. Experience in the Aerospace & Defense industry / program environment is a plus.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and safety standards for energetic materials (e.g., REACH, DOT, UN).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, technical writing and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
