Energetics (Mechanical) Design Engineer - Alton, IL
DESCRIPTION:
The Energetics Design Engineer - will be responsible for the design, development and testing of energetic materials and products.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Product Development: Lead and contribute to the development of new energetic materials and chemical products, from concept to commercialization.
- Material Characterization: Conduct testing and analysis of energetic materials to evaluate performance, stability, and compatibility.
- Process Optimization: Collaborate with manufacturing teams to optimize production processes for efficiency and quality control.
- Safety and Compliance: Ensure that all products meet safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements through rigorous testing and documentation.
- Technical Support: Provide technical support to internal teams, customers, and partners regarding product specifications, applications, and troubleshooting.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to drive continuous improvement and innovation.
BACKGROUND PROFILE:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Solid understanding of energetic materials, combustion processes, and chemical kinetics.
- Experience in product development, characterization techniques, and quality control. Experience in the Aerospace & Defense industry / program environment is a plus.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and safety standards for energetic materials (e.g., REACH, DOT, UN).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, technical writing and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
