Job Description:
Energy Data Analyst ISO New England Inc., One Sullivan Road, Holyoke, Massachusetts, United States of America Req #1024Tuesday, November 26, 2024

ISO New England is the not-for-profit, independent system operator responsible for ensuring the safe and reliable flow of electricity in our region and planning for the future of the electric grid. We are at the forefront of New England's ongoing transition to clean energy.

We have an important role to play in securing the region's clean and reliable energy future and seek folks from a variety of disciplines to join us!

What we offer you:

  • Hybrid work schedule with 3 days/week onsite
  • ISO-NE offers a flexible and hybrid work, a base salary plus bonus program, professional development and tuition reimbursement, enhanced 401k and financial planning, wellness programs with onsite gym, eligibility for Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF), access to business networks & more, all in a stable and supportive work environment!

How you will make an impact:

  • You will be on the cutting edge of quantifying and communicating new risks faced by the New England electric grid. The continued growth of intermittent renewable resources like wind and solar, as well as the expected growth of battery storage and responsive load, poses new challenges to keeping the lights on by maintaining the instantaneous balance between electric supply and electric demand. In this role, you will assist grid operators and planners to better understand these new risks associated with the evolving grid, both in real time and planning for the future.
  • Additionally, energy reliability assessments are becoming a larger share of the work being done by ISO New England. The analysis of energy availability is currently being performed on a regular basis to determine if conditions are favorable for the near-term horizon (i.e., next 21 days) and seasonally (e.g., upcoming summer or winter). The analysts will contribute by performing and improving the existing assessments, reporting mechanisms, and recommendations for actions when unfavorable conditions are detected.

What you need to be successful in this role:

  • Bachelor's degree in actuarial science, Mathematics, Nuclear Engineering, or other related area
  • Risk quantification experience
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills
  • Ability to lead a small team
  • Programming experience in Python preferred
