THE POSITION:

Reporting to the VP of Energy Delivery,the Support Specialist will provide administrative, technical, and analyticalservices to the Engineering, Power Resources & Access, and Safety &Emergency Preparedness divisions to ensure effective and efficient responses tomeet reporting requirements and assist them in meeting responsibilities and inobtaining and achieving overall goals and objectives of NHEC. The SupportSpecialist will support the VP of Energy Delivery and other Energy Deliverytalent, as necessary.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Represents the VP ofEnergy Delivery when necessary.
  • Ensures support of NewHampshire Electric Cooperatives (NHEC) strategic goals by assisting withdeveloping, achieving, and communicating departmental goals and objectives.
  • Ensures support of thecultural goals of NHEC by exhibiting self-leadership, developing, andmaintaining effective working relationships, being results orientated, beinginnovative, and seeking feedback to achieve personal and professional growth.
  • Ensures support offinancial goals of NHEC by assisting with annual divisional and departmentaloperating budget development and monitoring to ensure those budgets aremaintained within reasonable variances.
  • Increases professionaland technical knowledge by attending educational classes and seminars.
  • Provides support to theEngineering, Power Resources & Access, and Safety & EmergencyPreparedness divisions by assisting in coordinating and developing variousmonthly, quarterly, and year-end reports, regulatory filings, and work plans;coordinating meetings by scheduling and preparing rooms, sending invitations,and providing food as required; making travel arrangements, and compilingtravel and business expense receipts and reimbursement requests.
  • Tracks project,material, and budget statuses, following up with employees and outside contactsas necessary to ensure compliance.
  • Regularly reviews andupdates documents and procedures, updating and distributing when necessary.
  • Supports theEngineering & Operations and Power Resources & Access Board Committeesby scheduling and attending meetings, preparing agendas and reports, andrecording, transcribing, and distributing minutes of those meetings. Supportsother board committees as necessary. Generates monthly board reporting information and presentations.
  • Supports the ExecutiveServices Administrator when necessary.
  • Supports NHECs outageresponse by supporting the Manager of Safety & Emergency preparedness. Assistswith other restoration efforts as necessary.
  • Reviews processes andprocedures and makes recommendations for improvements.
  • Performs projectmanagement duties to ensure Capital Construction Budget projects remain on timeand on budget. Assists in preparation ofthe Capital Construction Budget by estimating budget costs.
  • Supports other staff inmeeting organizational deadlines.
  • Maintainsconfidentiality of documents and information by safeguarding confidentialpaperwork and using discretion with confidential information.
  • Performs other dutiesas assigned.
THE PERSON:

  • High school diploma orequivalent required.
  • Two years of collegewith an associate degree in business related field in Secretarial,Administrative, or Executive Assistance required or 2 years equivalent experience, in lieu of degree.Courses in accounting, project management, organizational development, andcommunications, business, or related field desired.
  • Four years ofresponsible administrative experience preferred. Two years of responsiblebudget and project management experience preferred.
  • Must have experience in and be proficient inthe art of taking and drafting minutes of meetings involving technical andconfidential subject matter.
  • Must beable to assist department management in analysis of departmental studies toimprove efficiencies and effectiveness.
  • Must have strong interpersonal skillsin dealing with members, visitors, and all office personnel.
  • Must have theability to type with speed and accuracy sufficient to complete assignedduties.
  • Must be able to composecorrespondence and communicate effectively.
  • Must exercise discretion and usesound judgment in dealing with others.
  • Must be conscientious about and able to safeguard confidentialinformation.
  • Knowledge of financial andpower transaction terminology helpful.
  • Must have the ability to handle a variety of diverse tasks and organizework to meet deadlines.
  • Must be capableof efficiently organizing and maintaining records and documents. Proficient inMicrosoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, and Access.
  • Must possess theability to collect, organize, and analyze a variety of data.
  • Must have the ability to express andinterpret ideas clearly, orally, graphically and in writing.
  • Must have the ability to work in a teamenvironment and to work independently. Should develop in a comparatively shorttime, knowledge of Public Utility Commission rules and regulations, and NHECpolicies and procedures.
  • Must beproficient in business English.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Primarily an inside position with normaloffice working conditions. Some travelto meetings required outside of normal workday. Some evening and weekend overtime may be required.

Eligible for hybrid work schedule (up to 3 daysper week) dependent upon management approval & workload, however on-siteoffice work in the Plymouth, NH area will be required. Will berequired to work long hours on occasions, especially during major systemoutages. Occasional travel required in the performance of workresponsibilities.

Assistance with power restorationefforts is required of all employees. It may be required during regularbusiness hours that employees will be assigned functions to support powerrestoration and for some employees that may be different from their normalduties. In addition, such assistance may require working nights, weekends, andholidays which may involve considerable extra hours. To meet this workingcondition, all employees are required to provide a personal phone number wherethey may be reached after hours. This number will only be used for internalpurposes.

NHEC views compensation in a holistic and transparent manner. The salary range for this role is targeted at $79,600-90,000.
