Johnson Controls invites you to apply for a position in our full-time summer internship program at our Hawthorne, NY office. Our internship program is designed to provide you with a positive work/training experience and challenging objectives that are consistent with your career goals and current level of education. Specific identified internship responsibilities are outlined below.
What you will do - Intern will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced Johnson Controls employees with exposure to our Engineering, Sales, Operations, and Measurement/Verification disciplines.
- Contributes in asset/ utility data collection, process or financial task calculations, and other energy/ operational performance engineering modeling during both design and performance management phases.
- Assists in preparing M&V reports, customer presentations, and other customer communication documents as needed.
- Assists in development of customer baselines, benchmarks, reviewing energy calculations, and Energy Star reporting as needed.
- Performs on-site data collection at customer facilities necessary to meet contractual requirements or to assist in design solutions, including detailed development tasks.
- Assists in on-site energy audits and customer meetings when requested.
- Attend local/regional team's sales calls (TAS reviews, strategic deal calls, pipeline status calls, etc.)
- Week of in-person K-12 job shadowing with Local Account Executive
- Assist a Construction manager in explaining the schedule of work and the timing of execution. Developing a plan and utilizing “two week look aheads” as a communication tool for our customers and subcontractors to ensure our projects flow smoothly. The candidate will be apart of the process in how these are developed and communicated.
- Assist a Construction manager as work is being executed onsite at a specific project(s). This will give the candidate an opportunity to see how things are built, learn the safety protocols and how we take pride in the various installation measures.
- Introduction to how we handle challenges or conflicts on our projects and what sets Johnson Controls apart from our competitors. The candidate will be involved and will assist the construction manager through a situation where there was a problem or conflict. Working with the greater engineering, sales or M&V team to come up with creative solutions to solve the problem while exceeding our customer's expectations
What we look forRequired Qualifications:- Currently enrolled as a full-time student at an accredited U.S. college or university
- Pursuing or have recently obtained a degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering or a 2-year technical college degree related to the HVAC industry OR a graduate degree
- Can be part time or full time
- U.S. citizen or legal right to work in the U.S.
- Solid computer skills, including an understanding of MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint. Experience using MS Power BI, eQuest, or other modelling software a plus
- HVAC interest and field experience a plus
