Position InformationPosting Number 20112983Position Title Engagement & Outreach CoordinatorFTE 1.0Position Type StaffDepartment Police DepartmentPosition Summary InformationJob Summary/Basic FunctionAbout This Role:The Engagement and Outreach Coordinator reports to the Lamar University Police Sergeant overseeing our campus community engagement and outreach initiatives. This position creates lesson plans, and resource documents, and prepares thorough presentations utilizing PowerPoint, various technologies, and media to educate students, faculty, staff, and visitors about safety-related topics. This position is also responsible for collecting data related to federal and state-mandated reporting of educational efforts. Additionally, this role coordinates and collaborates with other LU departments and student groups to create educational events and programming on campus.What You'll Do – Position Responsibilities:Create lesson plans, presentations, and resource materials and teach various safety-related topics to the Lamar University community.Support LUPD at various events by providing security, distributing information, guidingvisitors, and engaging with parents and potential students.Participate in all tabling, programming, and special events to support the educationalinitiatives of LUPD .Coordinate and collaborate with other departments to create events and positiveeducational programming on campus.Collect educational data related to federal and state reporting mandates.Key Competencies:Able to follow instructions and perform assignments efficiently and effectivelyAble to work in both a group setting and alone with minimum supervision Availability to work varied shifts, mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidaysAbility to work quickly, effectively, and responsibly without constant directionComfortable working with college-age students and potential studentsPhysical Requirements:Able to lift 40 lbs. and be able to perform a variety of physical tasks including lifting, bending, stooping, squatting, stair climbing and walking between buildings.Essential functions or requirements listed above may not be performed in every position with this title, and these essential functions may not include all related duties that might be requested and/or performed.Job Conditions:The work environment includes indoor and outdoor spaces, exposure to varying temperatures, exposure to weather, sitting, standing, kneeling, and walking.Who We Are:Lamar University is an accessible global university for life-long learners with a passion for broad-based community engagement.
