Engineer - Electric Maintenance Location: United States Of America, New York, Rochester - 3 City Ctr Posted: 2 Days Ago Job Requisition ID: R-11749 Job Title: Engineer Electric Maintenance Reports to: Supervisor - Electric Maintenance Eng Location: In Office, Rochester NY The base salary range for this position is dependent upon experience and location, ranging from: $76,186- $95,233 JOB SUMMARY: The engineer will lead and participate in teams/projects to solve complex problems, taking a broad perspective to identify innovative solutions. Perform substation maintenance duties including planning, implementing preventive maintenance plans, developing equipment specifications and standards, and performing analysis. Able to work independently with guidance on only the most complex tasks. Actively participates in industry associations such as Doble Committees, IEEE, EPRI, and CEATI. MAJOR ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Plan and implement an RCM methodology for substation equipment maintenance and testing (20%) Perform engineering analyses, design, and calculations using standard methodology and principles. Develop alternate methods or design concepts to resolve problems or to improve processes/services (15%) Provide technical expertise and leadership for substation operations personnel and contractors to implement planned maintenance. Review equipment inspection and test results. Document and keep current accurate asset records to track equipment life cycle (15%) Determine installation and operating requirements and evaluate new products, manufacturers, and contractors while researching new technology (5%) Document and keep stakeholders informed of equipment failures, service advisories, and abnormal conditions to ensure safety and reliability (5%) Develop substation standards, equipment specifications, and framework agreements through a standardized approach for all operating companies (10%) Perform substation equipment/facilities inspections and develop a method for evaluating the risks associated with the equipment & facilities based on a Failure Modes and Effects (5%) Apply problem, cause, remedy failure analysis to support maintenance corrective actions and decisions on asset replacements (20%) Assist with special initiatives on global practices and substation management developing scope, schedule, and budget (5%) JOB REQUIREMENTS: Education & Experience Required: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology, or equivalent experience. MS or MBA a plus. At least 2 years of experience in T&D electric utility design, operations, and maintenance. Substation maintenance and test experience preferred. Certification: registration as a Professional Engineer a plus. Skills/Abilities: Highly developed verbal and written communications skills. Effective in managing multiple priorities and an effective team player. Possess in-depth experience, knowledge, and skills in electric utility maintenance activities, along with related business practices and procedures. Maintain knowledge of leading-edge techniques or technology through participation in professional associations. Ability to explain difficult concepts and influence others. Demonstrate high level of oral/written communication and interpersonal competencies. Ability to participate effectively on a team of diverse individuals and mentor others.
