We are looking for a Registered Professional Engineer (P.E) who has experience in general civil engineering design, site development, residential development, transportation projects, and water and wastewater related projects.Working for the Utility Planning and Engineering division you will have a direct impact in delivering quality and sustainable services that meet the expectations of Citrus County's utility customers. - Drives and/or operates a county vehicle or equipment and must obey all safety policies, and roadway rules and laws.
- Reviews plans, specifications, calculations, engineering reports, and as-built drawings submitted in support of permit applications, and projects for utility facilities associated with residential, commercial, institutional, and industrial projects. Ensures compliance with standards, ordinances, and laws.
- Prepares engineering design drawings and specifications.
- Assists various Water Resources department staff members with problem solving, calculations, reviews, meeting attendance, drawing preparation, and presentation preparation.
- Assists with field work and on-site inspection of utility projects.
- Assists with grants, grant funding, and grant related document preparation.
- Attends various meetings with citizens, permit applicants, developers, contractors, and consultants.
- Performs records research relating to property, and easements.
- Assists the County Surveyor with AutoCAD drawing preparation.
- Performs other duties as required.
Minimum RequirementsEducation, Training, and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
- Or recent college graduate with internship experience in general civil engineering design, site development, residential development, transportation projects, and water and wastewater related projects.
- A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum requirements listed above.
Certificates, Licenses, Registration, Skills
- Valid Florida Driver License (or must obtain within 30 days of establishing residency in Florida).
- Registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the State of Florida.
- Ability to work cooperatively with Water Resources department engineers and project managers.
- Knowledge in interpreting field surveys, plan reviews, and site construction.
- Ability to effectively communicate (verbally and in writing) in a clear, confident manner using proper grammar.
- Requires ability to maintain courteous and effective relations with County staff, elected officials, community interest groups and the public.
- Must have strong working knowledge of computers and be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite of Products (i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.), ArcGIS, and Autodesk Civil3D.
- Must have or be able to obtain within 90 days certification in FEMA National Incident Management System (NIMS) courses:
- IS-100.c: Introduction to the Incident Command System (ICS)
- IS-200.b: ICS for Single Resources & Initial Action Incidents
- IS-700.b: An Introduction to the National Incident Management System
- IS-800.c: National Response Framework, an Introduction
Physical Requirements/Work Environment
- Requires a combination of sitting, standing, and walking.
- The job involves frequent lifting and carrying up to 10 pounds, and occasionally up to 20 pounds.
