The position is responsible for overseeing our Traffic Calming Program, reviewing Traffic Impact Analyses, and reviewing Maintenance of Traffic Plans. The ideal Engineer candidate will have a strong working knowledge of traffic engineering practices and experience in supervising a team of professionals to successfully deliver studies within schedule and scope. Required Qualifications VOCATIONAL / EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT : Requires a bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a closely related field. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT :
- Engineer II requires a minimum of 2 years experience
- Engineer III requires a minimum of 5 years of experience in traffic engineering, including traffic modeling and technical leadership.
SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES : Requires a valid driver's license and a driving record that is in compliance with City Driving Standards . Engineer-In-Training ( EIT ) or Professional Engineer (PE) license desired for Engineer II. Engineer III requires a PE license. Virginia DEQ Certified Plan Reviewer and/or Program Administrator for SWM is required within 12 months of employment. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS : Employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies.
