We also use applied technology expertise to serve the defense, entertainment, material handling, aerospace, science, and renewable energy industries.Position SummaryAs an Engineer IV at Oceaneering, you will take on a key role in driving advanced engineering and design efforts while overseeing large and complex projects. Working closely with cross-functional teams-including Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, Purchasing, and more-you'll ensure seamless execution and delivery of innovative solutions that meet customer expectations. From resource planning and scheduling to budget management, you'll be at the forefront of project success.This role offers the opportunity to lead engineering design and production teams throughout the entire project lifecycle, from concept and planning to completion. With a focus on technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement, you'll help shape the future of engineering while fostering a culture of innovation and inclusion.Duties & ResponsibilitiesESSENTIAL• Perform complex engineering tasks independently, managing projects with challenging design requirements, unique materials, and the need for cross-functional coordination.• Apply advanced technical judgment, creativity, and decision-making latitude to develop innovative solutions for complex problems.• Define project objectives, schedules, and estimates for highly technical assignments.• Lead and supervise multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, technical writers, designers, and drafters, ensuring effective collaboration and progress.• Evaluate work quality and project outcomes for both personal contributions and team efforts.• Collaborate with customer technical representatives to understand, define, and manage their expectations.• Utilize strong team management skills to guide the design engineering group through various project phases.• Assess vendors for technical competence, capabilities, and resources to meet project requirements.• Review and approve key engineering deliverables, including work packages, change documents, designs, models, drawings, and calculation packages.ADDITIONAL• Lead or assist with bid and proposal efforts by developing cost estimates, defining technical approaches, and contributing to baseline schedule data.• Participate in or lead Technical Working Groups to evaluate and enhance processes and capabilities.QualificationsREQUIRED• Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Ocean or Nuclear) or Naval Architecture from accredited college or university; master's degree in related field preferred.• Work experience with US Department of Defense is preferred.• At least ten years engineering experience in complex systems design, manufacturing, and integration environment, work experience with the U.S. Department of Defense projects is desirable.• Experience leading multidisciplinary design teams.• Demonstrated ability to lead technical groups of more than five engineers, designers, and/or drafters. • Excellent communications and organizational skills.• Familiarity with ISO 9000 design requirements.• Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and CAD software, such as AutoCAD or SolidWorks or similar packages, is required. Proficiency in Mathcad is preferred.• Must be competent in system engineering methodologies.• Practical use of Finite Element Analysis -particularly SolidWorks Simulation or ANSYS Workbench.
