**Description**
About the Role
This position reports to the Manager, Construction Standards Unit, Quality Assurance Division. This is a field position to audit construction projects during stage IV with emphases on civil, structural, electrical, and mechanical disciplines; attend scheduled inspections and testing of life safety systems to support TAAs, Redevelopment projects and PA contracts to generate field comments and follow up to ensure compliance with the approved design documents and applicable codes. This position recommends the issuance of Certificate of Completion and Permit to Occupy or Use.
Responsibilities
+ Attend acceptance inspections/tests of all new construction, including, Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Architectural and Electrical Engineering disciplines during stage IV.
+ Ensures all work has been completed in accordance with the approved design documents and applicable codes for PA Contracts, JFK Redevelopment Projects and Tenant Alteration Applications.
+ Apply technical knowledge and experience during acceptance inspections and tests of various types of construction and systems, as applicable.
+ Audit field records, including Special inspections Reports and Professional Certifications
Minimum Qualifications
+ Five years of related buildingconstruction experience.
+ Familiarity with the NYC building codesand other applicable construction codes and standards.
+ Valid Driver's License.
Desired Qualifications
+ Bachelor of Engineering in Civil, Structural, Electrical or mechanical
+ Demonstrates experience working independently, withstrong problem-solving anddecision-making skills.
+ Ability to collaborate with all levels of technical staff in performing field inspection/audits to generate nonconforming items during acceptance inspections/tests.
+ Proficiency and effectiveness in written and oral communication skills.
+ Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with multiple Port Authority Departments and external consultants and contractors.
+ Self-motivated and experienced in working in a team environment.
+ Professional Engineering License.
+ Proficient in the use of various computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
