Job Description:
We are seeking a highly qualified Engineering (General) VI to lead and provide engineering expertise in the development and modernization of tactical network capabilities for the Army. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting various engineering activities, ensuring that systems meet operational requirements and comply with best practices in engineering.
The role involves collaborating with multiple stakeholders, conducting thorough evaluations of network performance, and integrating new technologies to enhance the capabilities of tactical communications.
Key Responsibilities:
* Electronics Engineering Processes: Lead the implementation of engineering processes and best practices, ensuring high-quality performance in software, network, RF, and satellite systems.
* Technical Leadership: Provide comprehensive engineering support for transport and networking architecture, with a focus on current and future tactical network capabilities.
* Collaboration and Support: Collaborate with organizations such as PEO C3T, other PMs, PdMs, and Army stakeholders to facilitate interoperability and effective technology integration.
* Design Reviews and Evaluations: Conduct design reviews and perform in-depth technical evaluations of network performance, supporting risk assessments and integration strategies.
* Acquisition Documentation Review: Analyze and translate acquisition documentation (e.g., mission needs statements, ICDs, CDDs, CPDs, etc.) for Army tactical communications electronics into technical solutions that are standards-based and cost-efficient.
* Proposal Assessment: Review government performance work statements and contractor proposals for technical accuracy to ensure compliance with established requirements.
Required Expertise:
* Network Engineering: Proven experience in network engineering, particularly in designing and implementing LANs or VLANs.
* Routing Protocols: Strong knowledge of routing protocols, multicast configurations, and IPv4/IPv6 addressing.
* Network Protocol Analysis: Experience with network protocol analysis tools such as Sniffer or Wireshark.
* Virtualization Technologies: Familiarity with VMware and virtualization platforms for network management.
* Commercial Communications Equipment: In-depth understanding of commercial communications equipment and integration within tactical networks.
* RF Engineering: Extensive knowledge of RF engineering, voice/data transmission, and backbone networks.
* Tactical Communications Electronics: Expertise in Army tactical communications electronics and their applications in modern networks.
Qualifications:
* Masters degree in Engineering or a related field.
* 15+ years of tactical network engineering experience (Software, Network, Satellite, or RF Engineering) with at least 5 years of experience at the PEO/PM level in tactical networks.
* Expert-level knowledge in network engineering, design, and performance optimization.
* Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with senior stakeholders and technical presentations.
