We are a dynamic firm focused on our clients' success, and we fulfill project and program needs from initial concept through implementation with innovative, yet practical solutions.We are currently looking for an energetic and knowledgeable individual to fill a full-time Structural Engineering Intern position in our Ellsworth, Cheney, or Salina, Kansas office. This position could be filled by a recent graduate or an individual with professional experience up to three years. The title/level of position will be based on the skills and experience of the candidate selected.Primary Function: This entry-level full-time position located in the Ellsworth, Cheney, or Salina, Kansas office will involve general civil engineering duties including drainage structure inspections and reports, bridge load rating calculations, generation of engineering reports, hydrology analysis, and hydraulic calculations. The candidate will work under the direction of a senior team member and receive specific instruction for required tasks and project components. You will complete the two-week NHI-130055 course: Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges to set you on a path of being Qualified as a KDOT Team Leader for bridge inspections. Instruction on bridge inspections, structure load rating, and basic hydraulic modeling will be provided as you begin to apply engineering education to practical solutions.Duties/Responsibilities
- Performs drainage structure inspections and reports.
- Perform bridge load ratings.
- Performs standard computations or analysis.
- Assists in structural analysis and design.
- Hydraulic modeling.
- Assists on other tasks such as: preparation of permit applications, material testing, and CAD work.
- Client Service Management (CSM) activities for specifically targeted clients.
- May give direction to bridge inspectors and technicians.
- Split between office setting (indoor) and field (outdoor) duties depending on the nature of the work being performed.
Qualifications
- Bachelors' Degree in Civil Engineering or (similar engineering degree) or currently enrolled as a senior at an accredited university majoring in Civil Engineer.
- Previous engineering work experience not required, but a plus.
- High level of creativity, enthusiasm, and self-motivation.
- Valid driver's license and ability to be insured required.
