With over 100 inspired chefs from cities like NYC, LA, Austin, and more, our weekly subscription offers a wide range of hand-crafted meals to cater to various palates and dietary preferences. By delivering over 1 million meals per month, we're also empowering working chefs, tripling their income, and supporting their growth. CookUnity believes in fueling stronger communities, partnering with Food Bank For New York City to combat food insecurity across all five boroughs. The role: We are looking for an experienced Engineering Leader to lead our Chef Experience team. This role is crucial in ensuring that the chefs on our platform have the best tools and technology at their fingertips to manage their squads and create exceptional culinary experiences. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with a deep understanding of engineering principles, product development, and user experience, coupled with a passion for food and a commitment to empowering culinary talent. Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Strategy:
    • Lead, mentor, and inspire a multidisciplinary engineering team focused on the Chef Experience.
    • Collaborate with Product Management, Design, and Operations to define and execute the technology strategy for the Chef Experience.
    • Spend time with the Chefs to learn about their work and drive the vision for creating an innovative, chef-centric experience that help them focus on cooking delicious food.
    • Ensure alignment between business goals and technical execution, balancing short-term deliverables with long-term innovation.
  • Technical Oversight:
    • Hands-on drive of the architecture, design, and implementation of scalable and reliable systems that enhance the chef's ability to create and manage their offerings.
    • Foster best practices in software development, including code quality, testing, and continuous delivery.
    • Identify and mitigate technical risks, ensuring the robustness and performance of the Chef Experience platform.
    • Stay updated on emerging technologies and trends that could benefit the platform and the chefs.
  • Collaboration & Communication:
    • Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the Chef Experience aligns with the broader company objectives.
    • Act as a key point of contact between the engineering team and chef partners, ensuring their feedback is integrated into product development.
    • Communicate effectively with stakeholders across the organization, providing regular updates on progress, challenges, and solutions.
  • Team Development:
    • Recruit, develop, and retain top engineering talent, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
    • Encourage knowledge sharing and continuous learning within the team.
    • Promote a positive, inclusive, and high-performance team environment.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Experience:
    • 8+ years of engineering experience with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
    • Proven track record of delivering successful products in a fast-paced, agile environment.
    • Experience with consumer-facing platforms, especially those involving creator or partner ecosystems, is a plus.
    • Strong background in full-stack development, cloud services, and microservices architecture.
  • Skills:
    • Exceptional leadership and people management skills, with a passion for developing talent.
    • Strong understanding of UX principles and a user-centric approach to product development.
    • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make data-driven decisions.
    • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into language understood by non-technical stakeholders.
  • Education:
    • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
