Job DescriptionProgram Overview:Our Engineering Management Trainee Program is designed to develop future leaders in engineering and project management by providing hands-on experience in key areas of our engineering operations. This structured 6-month program offers broad exposure to various engineering disciplines, project management principles, and operational practices, culminating in a high-impact capstone project. We offer two cohorts of trainees annually, with one class starting in January and the other in July.Program Structure:First 3 Months - Rotational Experience:During the first three months, trainees will rotate through critical engineering departments to gain a comprehensive understanding of our engineering processes and project workflows. Trainees will be exposed to:
- Process Engineering
- Quality Assurance and Control
- Project Management
- Research and Development
- Operations Engineering
The goal is to provide a holistic view of how these departments collaborate to drive engineering excellence and deliver successful projects within the organization.
- Last 3 Months - Capstone Project:In the final three months, each trainee will focus on a specific area within engineering management. They will be tasked with developing and executing a capstone project that addresses a key engineering challenge or opportunity within their department. This project will culminate in a presentation to senior leadership, showcasing innovative solutions for enhancing engineering practices or improving project outcomes.
Post-Program Placement:Upon completion of the 6-month program, trainees will be placed in available positions within the engineering function. If no position is immediately available, the trainee will continue working in their current capacity until a suitable role is found. Trainees will be considered for roles such as Project Engineer I, and similar positions within the organization.Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in hands-on training across various engineering functions
- Engage with cross-functional teams to understand engineering workflows, project management principles, and best practices
- Collaborate with engineering leaders to identify and work on strategic engineering initiatives
- Design, develop, and present a capstone project focused on improving engineering practices or project management processes
- Build relationships with employees across departments and actively contribute to the company's engineering culture
- Attend workshops on leadership and professional development to enhance personal and professional skills
- Complete engineering assessments and reports as required
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Recent graduate with a degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Industrial, or a related field), Engineering Management, or a related discipline
- Strong interest in a career in engineering management and leadership
- Willingness to learn and adapt in a dynamic engineering environment
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented setting
- A proactive approach to work, with a high degree of ownership and accountability
- Must be willing to travel to different facilities throughout the program (DE & NC)
