This position is for an Engineering Supervisor of Electrical Components. Primary responsibilities are controllers, switchboards, transformers, and bus transfer switches. The selected individual is responsible for the supervision and technical oversight of approximately 10 engineers engaged in all aspects of engineered component development. Responsibilities will include all phases of the submarine component development process and life cycle support including associated legacy component designs. This position will require the technical management and oversight of numerous component suppliers in all aspects of component qualification. This position will support Fast Attack Submarine Programs (VIRGINIA Class (VC), VIRGINIA Payload Module (VPM), VIRGINIA Sub-Seabed Warfare (SSW) program, SSN(X), and potential future platforms/studies).
The Engineering Supervisors position day-to-day responsibilities include such efforts as assigning work, providing technical guidance and direction, approving products, scoping and estimating tasks, establishing and managing budgets, manpower planning, employee development, mentoring, managing program metrics, reporting, vendor oversight, etc. The position also requires regular technical and programmatic interaction with all levels of the Navy, Suppliers, and multiple disciplines within Electric Boat (engineering, program office, purchasing, contracts, quality, welding engineering, waterfront construction etc.). Technical supplier management and oversight is a critical function for this position and group. The Supervisor will be expected to take ownership of supplier performance and drive that accountability with their engineers. Frequent travel and presentations also may be required.
