An employee in this class also performs field inspections work of public infrastructure projects. Work is performed under the regular supervision of the development services supervisor.Responsibilities:Prepares engineer's estimates and performance bonds.Designs public utility, storm drain and traffic infrastructure projects; develops project plans and specifications; conducts plan review; prepares and maintains files and records.Performs site plan review ensuring that the site plan contains the basic principles and practices of civil engineering.Reviews construction drawings.Reviews infrastructure fees.Schedules and conducts preconstruction meetings.Performs plot plan review.Schedules and performs construction inspections in the field.Observes and conducts field tests of construction materials.Observes contractors and sub-contractors during the installation of infrastructure.Assists in creating and managing Town projects.Assists in complaint investigation.Performs as-built reviews.Attends meetings on Town related topics.Answers questions from public.Performs related tasks as required.Qualifications:Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of civil engineering; thorough knowledge of modern methods and techniques as applied to the design of public works and utility projects; thorough knowledge of public infrastructure construction principles and practices; ability to perform engineering computations and to make recommendations on engineering problems; skill in the use of civil engineering instruments and equipment; ability to communicate ideas effectively both orally and in writing; ability to calculate complex cost reports; ability to effectively inspect construction while in progress; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, contractors and the general public.Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited two-year or four-year college or university with major course work in civil engineering with considerable experience in public works or utility engineering.#J-18808-Ljbffr
