$35.15 - $56.24 Hourly$73,112 - $119,979 AnnuallyThis position is a Pay Band EFPosting DetailsInterviews are anticipated to be conducted within two weeks of closing date. Why does the job exist?To ensure that all highway and bridge construction projects are completed and comply with the NM Department of Transportation Specifications, NM Department of Transportation Standard Drawings, Technical Training Certification Program (TTCP) Certifications, Project Plans, Project Contracts, and Federal Highway Administration Code of Federal Regulations.To assign job duties to crew personnel and to provide direct supervision to Office Manager and Assistant Project Manager as well as crew members as necessary. Perform employee evaluations as required. How does it get done?Supervise subordinates and contractors on roadway and bridge construction projects ensuring materials meet specifications, and ensure all quantities are completed before the estimate cut-off date. Have the ability and knowledge to prepare change orders and monthly estimates. Also, provide weekly traffic reports as necessary. Attend Project Design reviews from project scoping report up to Plans Specifications and Estimates and review to provide comments to Project Development Engineers to assist in the design process. Who are the customers?The traveling public and pedestrians Ideal CandidateThe ideal candidate will have the following experience:Experience managing and administering highway/bridge construction and maintenance projects.Experiencing documenting all work activities related to contractor, property owners, weather conditions and inspector activities in Site Manager.Experience supervising Civil Engineer Technicians. Ability to administer contractor payments to ensure pay items are reported in timely manner and no items are paid during the reporting period without proper materials certification. Experience working with contracts, plans, standard specifications for Highway and Bridge Construction, Federal minimum guidelines and standard serial drawings and to construct a quality and safe roadway system for the traveling public. Minimum QualificationHigh School Diploma or equivalent and ten (10) years of relevant experience, four (4) years of which must be supervisory. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling ten (10) years may substitute for the required experience. Employment RequirementsMust possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Employment requires successful completion of a pre-employment physical exam and is conditional pending results. May require Technician Training Certification Program (TTCP) certificates within one year of hire to include but not limited to; Nuclear Densometer, Concrete Field and Lb Testing, and Aggregate, Soils, Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA), Traffic Control, SWPPP, Inertial Profiler Inspector and Drilled Shaft Inspector. Working ConditionsWork is performed in an office and/or field in varying weather conditions - hot or cold, humidity, wind, rain and snow; exposure to sunlight, dust, and pollen. Exposure to hazardous chemicals, inclement weather, construction equipment and high-speed traffic. Work with nuclear devices; heights and confined spaces. toxic fumes/chemicals and/or airborne particles, rough/rugged terrain, noxious plants and infected trash; exposure to hazardous chemicals, insects and reptiles, loud noises, stressful situations; subject to falls and bruises, subject to irregular hours day or night, call out for emergencies and frequent temporary assignments that require travel and extended overnight stays away from post of duty; extended hours and occasional travel. Heavy lifting; sitting/standing, bending, squatting, climbing, reaching, kneeling and crawling for extended periods of time may be required. Must have the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
