The English Department at Jefferson Community College is seeking part-time adjunct faculty to grow our adjunct pool. Candidates may be needed to teach in one or more of the following courses: Basic Composition, Composition, Research and Composition, and Literature and Composition. There is also a possibility that adjuncts may be needed to teach other courses for the Department including Technical and Professional Writing as well as creative writing and/or specialty literature courses.

Requirements:

Master's degree in an English-related field (English, Composition and Rhetoric, Literary Studies, etc.) preferred, however candidates with a bachelor's degree and relevant teaching/tutoring experience will be considered. Applicants must interact and communicate effectively with diverse populations, foster inclusion, and promote equal access and treatment for groups traditionally under-represented in higher education.

Additional Information:

This is a pooled search. Jefferson Community College is seeking to develop a pool of qualified applicants to teach English courses. Adjunct applications will be kept on file for three years to fill part-time teaching vacancies as they occur.

The College determines the need for adjunct instructors based on planned courses each term; it is not possible to predict the need for future semesters. When an opening does occur, finalists for adjunct positions are contacted for interviews.

Level A - $665/credit hour

Level B - $785/credit hour after teaching 6 semesters at Jefferson.
