Victoria College has held AEL grants since 1997.The Academic Support and Student Success Department is recruiting for a full-time English Language-Civics Director for the Adult Education Program. This position is responsible for program oversight and coordination of services and department events and activities, accounting tasks, and assisting with Adult Education program students.This position is benefits eligible.   • Develops and implements recruitment and outreach plan throughout the service area to ensure successful enrollment and retention of state determined targeted number of students.
  • Maintains program information and distribution via print, social media, and website.
  • Coordinates class setups, room bookings, and attendance sheets and collection processes.
  • Establishes and maintains monthly communication with all staff regarding program updates and responsibilities.
  • Coordinates with instruction and curriculum lead to ensure adequate schedule and staffing.
  • Develops and oversees strategic tutoring and distance learning programs applicable for grant population.
  • Develops and oversees program specific to Internationally Trained Professional students.
  • Assists the AEL Executive Director in preparations for monthly fiscal reporting including processing travel, payroll, and expenditures.
  • Serves as a purchaser with access to grant funds through a procurement card. Ensure all costs are allowable and documented prior to purchasing and proper documentation are filed within records retention guidelines.
  • Completes travel arrangements for staff, as needed.
  • Assists with planning and facilitating various student events.
  • Maintains inventory of supplies/textbooks/technology and complete purchases for program, as needed.
  • Serves on hiring team, as needed.
  • Assists with planning and conducting all staff trainings, department meetings.
  • Conducts general office duties such as filing, ensuring records and program documents are organized and easily accessible
  • Complies with the general policies of Victoria College.
  • Collects data to assist Executive Director of Adult Education for reporting to Texas Workforce Commission and/or Victoria College.
  • Participate in VC promotional activities and community events.
  • Supports and coordinates with all Adult Education staff.
  • Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree required
    • Bilingual in Spanish required
    • Must have effective interpersonal, oral, and written skills
    • Knowledge of MS Outlook, Word, and Excel highly desirable.
    • Must have a team attitude and be detail oriented.
    • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and written communication skills;
    • Discretionary judgment regarding confidential information;
    • Ability to manage a flexible schedule and meet deadlines;
    • Ability to interact with diverse groups
    • Willingness to work evening hours and flexible schedule to meet program demands is required
    Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle controls, key pads, etc. Will be required to sit and reach with hands and arms as well as, sit, stand and walk. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds while loading office supplies and paper. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, some color vision, and the ability to adjust focus from documents to computer screen. Hearing of light to moderate sound is required by this job. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.The following benefits apply to all full-time positions scheduled to work 30 hours or more each week.
