This engaging and energetic department is responsible for the students, K-5, before school, during recess and lunches, and after school, when we provide a robust program of activities.We seek applicants who love working with children and want to learn and make a difference. Candidates must be able to provide a safe environment for youth, build positive relationships within the community, and plan and lead enrichment activities after school.Expected hourly range: $17.55 - $24.00/hour (depending on experience)Join our team! Maximum of 30 hours per weekQualificationsJob Duties & Responsibilities:§ Supervise students' activities and play, in a non-academic setting, typically outdoors.§ Ensure the physical and emotional safety of the children at all times.§ Provide a positive environment for students to learn and develop lifelong skills.§ Plan and implement developmentally-appropriate enrichment activities in an after-school program.§ Ensure safe and efficient operations of loading zones during student arrival and dismissal times.Terms of Employment:These non-exempt positions are part-time for the school year. There are no benefits associated with this position. Available shifts include morning, lunch, and afternoon: 7:30 am-8:30 am., 11:30 am-1:15 pm, 3:00-6:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Schedules can vary based on the applicant's availability-a maximum of 30 hours per week.Minimum Qualifications:§ Must hold current first aid and CPR certification or obtain certification within one month of employment (Harker provides courses throughout the year).§ Prior experience working with children is preferred.§ Ability to communicate and work with groups of all ages and skill levels and provide necessary direction and instruction to students.§ Ability to plan and implement creative, age-appropriate activities, including passive and active activities.§ Ability to stand for up to 3 hours at a time and withstand climate extremes.§ Ability to communicate in practical English with staff, parents, and children.§ Ability to work effectively with people of different backgrounds, abilities, opinions, and perceptions.§ Ability to maintain a positive and professional outlook and contribute to the community's well-being.Keywords: Children, Youth, After School Program, Out-of-School-Time (OST) program, Child Care, ExtracurricularAbout The Harker School: Harker is a coeducational, non-sectarian, college preparatory school serving TK through grade 12.
