Location:YMCA of the SuncoastAssociation Office - North Pinellas CountyRate of pay: $13.35/hr - $13.95/hrShift: Mid-day.The Healthy Living department is looking for a Kids Power Program Instructor to join our team. If you enjoy working with young people and have a passion for healthy living, this role is for you! This person will co-facilitate the Kids Power after school wellness program at area elementary schools in North Pinellas and Pasco Counties. The job includes facilitating healthy living education sessions at YMCA after school care sites to include travel, prep, set-up and break-down, curriculum delivery, and any/all data tracking as needed. This individual is personable, professional, and has the ability to communicate in a positive and productive manner with the participants, parents and/or guardians, staff, and facility/school personnel.JOB SUMMARY: This position is responsible for instructing safe and effective enrichment classes.EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:Research shows that some candidates apply only if they meet all of the job criteria. Must demonstrate the ability to teach a safe and effective class. Prior experience in specialty preferred. Upon hire, must Intro to the Ys Cause & Culture, Y's Way to Service & Engagement, and I Hear You: Service with CARE. Get SMART, CPR/AED and First Aid preferred.SPECIAL SKILLS OR EQUIPMENT REQUIRED:Must be able to articulate and communicate effectively while instructing participants. Must have a positive attitude and ability to work independently.PHYSICAL AND/OR MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:Must have the ability and patience to instruct classes while using effective communication and human relation skills. Must have the ability to conduct, demonstrate and safely lead a classroom of adults and or children.JOB DUTIES:1. Follows the YMCA of the USA teaching guidelines.2. *Responsible for delivery of instructional content of class.3. Create a nurturing and safe environment by reporting suspicious activity that may lead to child abuse or may violate the code of conduct. Keep supplies organized, maintain and clean facility and care for equipment.4. Takes responsibility for certain housekeeping duties5. *Exercises sound judgment in relationship to class safety. Follows all emergency procedures6. *Engages in positive public relations with members7. *Attend all staff meetings, in-house trainings, demonstrations and special promotions as designated by supervisor.8.
