About This Role Facilitate the Enrichment and Acceleration for elementary grade students. Implement effective instructional strategies in an interdisciplinary manner, while meeting the social, emotional, and academic needs of students in support of the district's equity commitments as expressed in Board Policy 7:12: Ensuring Racial and Educational Equity. Essential Role Responsibilities:
  • Provide access for all students to participate in enrichment activities through a push-in co-teaching model.
  • Assist in facilitating the district's Acceleration process.
  • Plan instruction that integrates the core content areas and higher-level thinking skills for all students.
  • Collaborate with staff and administration during the development and implementation of district goals and initiatives.
  • Implement the components of differentiated instruction, including (but not limited to) learning centers, student choice, integrated units of study, literature circles, project-based instruction, and curriculum compacting.
  • Differentiate instruction to address the learning styles/needs of students.
  • Provide project-based instruction as culminating activities, which demonstrate real-world application and an awareness of career education.
  • Provide classroom assignments and learning experiences that will encompass a variety of intelligences, modalities, or learning styles.
  • Develop program newsletters and written communications, which provide updated information about the program.
  • Maintain high expectations for student-directed learning.
  • Participate in appropriate professional development as approved or assigned by Other duties as assigned.
  • Collaborate with teachers to identify instructional needs and provide targeted support and rigor to improve Tier 1 instruction.
  • Analyze student performance data to identify trends, gaps, and areas for improvement in instructional practices.
  • Design and deliver engaging professional development sessions, workshops, and training programs focused on effective instructional strategies.
  • Engage students in goal setting and monitor student progress towards their goals.
  • Maintains required data on individual student progress and shares data at school-based MTSS meetings and with families.
  • Participate in Building Leadership Team's MTSS meetings, grade-level MTSS meetings (as needed), district-wide Enrichment Specialist meetings, and other collaboration opportunities with staff as needed.
  • Content Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
    • Understands the importance of strong Tier 1 practices and has a firm understanding of Universal Design for Learning principles.
    • Understands the MTSS/RTI process and tiered instruction.
    • Maintains an in-depth knowledge of the Illinois Learning Standards in reading and math.
    • Demonstrated literacy with assessments (e.g. AIMSWeb Plus, NWEA, Benchmark Assessment System (BAS)
    EDUCATION, CREDENTIALS and/or EXPERIENCE
  • ISBE Elementary (K-9) Certificate with Middle School endorsement as needed.
  • Master's Degree in Reading and Literacy or Math with Type 10 Specialist Certification preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of successful teaching experience.
  • Demonstrated success in implementing a rigorous instructional program for all students.
  • Physical Requirements: This position requires the performance of light work-which requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently to move objects. The position includes close visual acuity, frequent talking, hearing, walking and standing, occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some stooping, kneeling, crouching and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. The job is performed in non-hazardous environments and a clean atmosphere.
