Job Description:

The Enrollment Counselor I will be responsible for recruiting students to enroll in Los Angeles Pacific University's online programs through consultative selling processes. This involves reaching out to individuals via phone, text or video conferencing, taking incoming calls and placing outbound calls to prospective students. Their primary purpose will be the conversion of inquiries to enrolled students while guiding the applicant through the admissions process to support LAPU's enrollment, retention, and customer satisfaction goals. This involves ongoing strategy to build rapport, create urgency, develop buy-in, and set expectations for the student experience. (AZ, AR, CA, CO, FL, GA, IL, KS, KY, MN, MO, MT, NM, NC, OH, OR, PA, TX, TN, VA, WA, WI) Office Time Zone: Candidates must be willing to work in the Pacific time zone as determined by the manager Schedule: In order to accommodate our student's needs and schedules, candidates must be willing to work one late shift during the week during the Pacific time zone. Hours are M-F 8 am - 5:00 pm PST. One late shift per week from 10 am to 6:30 pm PST will take place between T-TH, depending on the department's needs. Required Experience / Education

  • Proven experience establishing and maintaining relationships with diverse constituents

Desired Experience / Education
  • Experience with accelerated online degree programs preferred
  • Recruiting and advising prospect adult students
  • Strong consideration is given to candidates with recruiting, higher education, or sales experience
  • Prior experience in a sales role, preferably in a similar industry or selling similar products or services
  • Experience in consultative selling, lead generation, and networking skills is beneficial
  • Bachelor's degree
Essential Functions
  • Professionally represent Los Angeles Pacific University, academic programs, and services to prospective students and the community.
  • Serve as the first point of contact and customer service representative to prospective students; providing consistent, accurate, and timely information about Los Angeles Pacific University and its programs.
  • Responsible for qualifying prospective students, conducting a needs assessment, and assisting prospective students through the completion of the application process and first session registration.
  • Using consultative sales skills, develop relationships with prospective students and applicants in an effort to recruit the most qualified students for LAPU's online based programs.

  • Must be comfortable with accountability for the outreach and follow-up for each prospective student and applicant. A minimum of 85 outbound calls with prospective students throughout the day and or a minimum of 120 minutes of talk time
  • Demonstrate strong time management skills, the ability to prioritize tasks, and attention to detail to meet deadlines
  • Maintain complete records of activities and submit routine reports as requested.
  • Collaborate with staff to help attain common goals through participation in meetings, project teams, training, and planning activities.
  • Utilize CRM system for proper tracking and accurate reporting of recruitment activities, and documenting contact with all prospective students and applicants.
  • Develop and update knowledge on academic programs, features/benefits, student services, market conditions, and competitor activities.
  • Demonstrates a strong understanding of the institution's programs and policies, and be able to effectively communicate this information to prospective students.
  • Provide guidance and serve as an enrollment liaison for applicants through the entire admissions process
  • May serve as point person for additional responsibilities and projects as needed, and to contribute to the success of the enrollment department.
  • Adhere to the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)
  • Required to work a Saturday commencement event each calendar year
  • Performance Management: The Essential Functions outlined above will be used as a basis for performance management. The complete fulfillment of these functions must be met in order to be considered for the Enrollment Counselor II Position.
  • Additional responsibilities for the second tier will be focused on currently unmet and ongoing departmental needs such as quality control, external communications development, new implementations/initiatives, onboarding ambassadors, ongoing training, and data quality as signed by their Manager or Director of Enrollment.
  • Carry out other duties and responsibilities assigned by their Senior Program Rep/Team Lead, or Director of Enrollment.

  • Ability to work collaboratively across organizational units specifically related to student recruitment and marketing
  • Familiarity with an online education delivery model
  • Knowledge of JRM database systems and MoodleRooms Learning Management Systems
  • Proven customer service record with culturally diverse and non-traditional students
  • Strong command of the English language with excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills, detail-oriented, with an ability to plan and manage multiple projects concurrently in a timely manner
  • Ability to be proactive, to work with little supervision, and meet deadlines
  • Ability to adapt to a changing, fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of general office methods, procedures, and practices
  • Ability to maintain thorough recordkeeping systems and procedures
  • Skill in the use of personal computers and appropriate software applications within online education (see below)
