Job Summary: Responsible for providing excellent, compassionate, and empathetic customer service to our patients. Performs a variety of enrollment and insurance screening functions with the objective of determining eligibility for medical coverage according to the terms of numerous state and assistance programs. Job duties include new patient enrollment, processing sliding fee applications, and reviewing all paperwork and eligibility with each patient. There are four separate functions performed by Enrollment Services Specialists: Greeters, Navigators, Technicians, and the Phone Team. Enrollment staff transition through these different functions as business needs require. Greeters are responsible for assessing the needs of the individuals. Greeters provide patient intake functions such as providing forms to patients and receiving documentation to complete applications. Navigators work with patients to complete documentation and prepare the patient for an eligibility screening with a technician. Navigators manage technician schedules and reconcile application counts. Technicians' complete eligibility applications with patients and guide patients through the insurance exchange process. The Phone Team answers calls regarding patient coverage status, payer contract, and billing questions. Phone Team staff make appointments and register patients to practice management systems.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Determining and processing private insurance, Medicaid, CHP+, and other state programs.
- Verifying all health insurances on the Webportal and registering patients who currently have insurance.
- Reviewing all paperwork and eligibility with each patient.
- Responsible for data entry into practice management systems.
- Answers calls regarding patient coverage status, payer contract and billing questions, transferring calls to appropriate departments and other patient service duties.
- Makes appointments for enrollment and clinics, performing the necessary intake functions for arriving patients and cash handling.
- Supports many internal departments by providing quality customer service.
