They will play within full ensemble rehearsals and performances, and/or support behind the scenes in arranging music, organization, education, and recruitment duties. They will lead/conduct small-group rehearsals and occasional pieces in performance. They work with staff, the director, and students to accomplish a variety of administrative tasks that could include: arranging music, contacting students, maintaining rosters, tracking uniforms, maintaining equipment, sorting music folders, library duties, writing program notes, publicity tasks including social media, planning events, and recruiting. The ensemble assistant could perform all or a subset of these duties, depending on the needs of the director and ensemble. Key Outcomes40% of Time: Complete Administrative Tasks•Arrange and/or compose music for group•Assist with uniform preparation•Assist with library organization•Assist with social media promotion•Write program notes and help with program creation•Assist with rosters and attendance•Recruit by greeting students positively and attending recruiting events•Other duties as requested by the director35% of Time: Play with group and lead small group in rehearsals and performance•Demonstrate healthy technique and be available to share knowledge with students•Demonstrate excellent rehearsal etiquette and musicianship: asking questions, marking scores, leading from within20% of Time: Successfully lead small group in rehearsals and performance•Rehearse group efficiently•Use positive techniques to teach and guide•Demonstrate clear, positive leadership skills with verbal and written communication and conducting postures•Assist in choosing appropriate repertoire5% of Time: Create Rehearsal Tracks•Create accurate rehearsal tracks for the group's repertoire•Do this in a timely manner in the format prescribed by the director•Demonstrate healthy technique, good intonation, and accuracyKnowledge/Skills/AbilitiesBachelor's degree in music or music education preferred. Basic piano or relevant instrument; strong, healthy technique in main instrument; ability to blend in with ensemble; enjoyment of teaching; strong leadership and communication; appreciation and knowledge of a wide variety of related musical genres. Ability to arrange and compose. Comfort in a diverse environment working with a variety of learning styles. Microsoft Office programs, email, text, and basic social media abilities. Fluency with music notation software required. Own car preferred. Able to lift 30 lbs.
