Overview:
We are seeking an Application Engineer to work closely with the Enterprise Applications Manager and teams across IT, Accounting, Marketing, and Records. The ideal candidate will ensure all applications run optimally, using their strong communication, technical, and analytical skills. A heavy focus on Microsoft SQL, Windows Servers, and Microsoft online services is required. Some programming knowledge is a plus but not mandatory.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Administer, integrate, and update management applications, including finance, practice-specific, and marketing tools.
- Implement, reconfigure, upgrade, and maintain applications and platforms, especially SQL, SSRS, SSIS, Active Directory, and Windows Servers.
- Collaborate with other departments and assess risks during projects and system upgrades.
- Conduct month-end maintenance including updates, query optimization, and security patching.
- Test applications during upgrades and enhancements, while documenting system configurations and backup processes.
- Create user guides and document FAQs and resolutions.
- Manage support requests escalated from the helpdesk team and coordinate vendor support tickets.
- Track system performance and plan for necessary upgrades.
- Research new tools/technologies to improve the current application stack.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Strong proficiency in SQL administration and reporting tools like SSRS.
- Ability to learn technical aspects of the company's applications with prior experience in a similar environment.
- 3+ years' experience with accounting, time tracking, billing, and management software in legal or professional services.
- Familiarity with Elite 3E SQL database schema and related tools is a plus.
- Proficiency in XML/XSLT transformation and some programming languages like PowerShell, C#, or VB.NET.
- Strong foundation in troubleshooting and resolving complex technical issues with minimal supervision.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with team members of varying technical expertise.
Education & Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in managing large enterprise applications.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent experience is preferred.
Certificates:
Microsoft or similar certifications are preferred but not required.
