Title: Enterprise Applications Architect

Team: Enterprise Transformation - Stephen Romanowski - Enterprise Architect Grant Thornton's Enterprise Transformation (ET) Enterprise Architecture (EA) function's mission is to provide exceptional service that increases the firm's resiliency and fosters continuous transformation via collaboration, strategy, data driven decision making, and pro-active technology transformation. ET's EA function is comprised of multiple programs aligned to technology domains including Cloud, Data, Platforms, Applications, and Business Architecture. Each EA program is led by an experienced technologist who is responsible for the execution of common EA services, the staff aligned to the program, and the planning, collaboration, and execution of technology transformation at the firm within the corresponding domain.
Overall Scope: The Enterprise Applications Architect will be responsible for the development of application architectural strategies and data architecture/solutions that align to the company's business strategy and goals. Responsibilities also include technical guidance on custom application/data solution implementations within Grant Thornton's business technology team. The Enterprise Applications Architect will collaborate with application portfolio leads, Product Managers, and business stakeholders to help determine solutions based on business requirements and consult on their implementation. This position is a member of Enterprise Architecture team within the Enterprise Transformation organization.
Responsibilities: - Evaluate/analyze business needs and current technical assets/data to develop and implement solutions and strategy for our applications
- Perform platform planning and drive technical roadmap with the vendor and suggest improvements to increase efficiencies, scalability, and maximize product values
- Interact and communicate effectively with business sponsors, technology senior and middle management, executives, as well as end users and business subject matter experts
- Develop, maintain, and evangelize application architecture strategy to include reference architecture and standards, use of application patterns and assist development teams with best practices for application design
- Create, maintain, and govern technical architecture depicting the Business and IT landscape in its current, transitional, and future state.
- Responsible for driving firm application policies and standards for the design, integration, scalability, navigation, maintainability, and reuse of capabilities.
- Provide technical consultation for technology and software solutions based on business needs; oversee architectural aspects of business solution development/deployment.
- Works with external vendors, consulting partners, etc. to research emerging technologies and industry trends to define strategy for their applicability in alignment with strategic business direction.
Must Have Skills: - Bachelors of Science (BS) in computer science or information systems (or equivalent work experience).
- 8+ years of overall experience in application technology - primarily within application architecture including experience with TOGAF and Zachman frameworks, SOA, integration patterns, solution design, target architecture, cloud platforms, technology maturity models, Java, .NET, microservices, and governance.
- Extensive experience working with application teams, vendors, or service providers; considerable experience with SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle) methodologies and design/architecture aspects of project delivery.
- Experience with Microsoft technologies (Azure PaaS DBs, Event Grid, Kubernetes containers, Azure Insight, Azure Data Factory, Power Platform), Amazon technologies (Lambda, S3, EKS, EC2), BPMN (Business Process Model and Notation) tooling, and other relevant industry leaders.
- Communicate clearly and concisely with others, including senior leadership, in and outside of the organization in a credible, engaging, and confident manner. Possess the ability to adapt communication style and method as necessary, using the most effective communication method for each situation.
- Summarize and translate complex, technical information into straightforward language that is simple, memorable, and engaging for various technical and non-technical audiences, helping with interpretation based on anticipated use of the information.
