General Description
The Enterprise Assistant Director of Business Development position assists the Division Director of Business Development in providing oversight of all Port Everglades functions and employees in the Business Development Division. The position reports to the Enterprise Director of Business Development.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Requires a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in business, accounting, finance, public administration, marketing, communications, transportation, or a closely related field.
Requires six (6) years of progressively responsible business and financial planning experience in the area of transportation business development, marketing, negotiations, and closely related areas, including four (4) of relevant supervisory and administrative experience.
Special Certifications and Licenses
Must secure and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License at the time of appointment and for the duration of employment.
Must secure and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification card (TWIC) within 60 days of employment and for the duration of employment (if required).
Must secure and maintain a valid Seaport Business Purpose Credential for the duration of employment.
Preferences
Master's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in business, accounting, finance, public administration, marketing, communications, transportation, or closely related field
American Association of Port Authorities (AAPA) Port Professional Manager Certification
Four (4) years of management experience in any of the following areas: transportation, Foreign-Trade Zones, ocean shipping, or related area
Four (4) years of direct experience managing division/section-level budgets
Two (2) years of experience managing contract negotiations
The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the job as necessary.
Assist in Planning and Coordination: Support the Director of Business Development in the strategic planning, scheduling, and coordination of activities within the Business Development Division, including marketing Port containerized, bulk, and break-bulk cargo business lines. Assist with the administration of Foreign-Trade Zone No. 25, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and fostering business growth.
Operational Oversight: Aid in the management of Port Everglades' real property leases and oversee the franchises and business permits program. Ensure the smooth functioning of contracts and administrative processes related to key business functions.
Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with cargo customers, vendors, and civic leaders to maintain and develop new business opportunities under the direction of the Director of Business Development. Assist in representing the Business Development Division at public and professional meetings, conferences, and public groups.
Policy and Procedure Development: Help develop and implement policies, procedures, and priorities to align with the Business Development Division and Port Everglades' strategic goals. Ensure that all policies and procedures are effectively communicated and followed by staff.
Staff Supervision and Management: Supervise and provide guidance to professional and administrative staff, ensuring that the Business Development Division goals and objectives are met. Assist with personnel management, including hiring, training, and performance evaluations.
Fiscal Management: Collaborate with the Director of Business Development to develop, implement, and maintain the Division's strategic and fiscal plans. Assist in preparing and monitoring the Division's budget, ensuring that resources are efficiently allocated.
Reporting and Data Management: Prepare reports, interpret business data, and present findings to internal and external stakeholders. Assist in maintaining accurate records and managing division-related documentation.
Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement within the Division to enhance operational efficiency. Assist in problem-solving and troubleshooting issues related to business operations and program administration.
