Compensation OverviewThe hourly salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual hourly rate for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards.

What Is the Opportunity?The Enterprise Market Research (EMR) Intern Program aims to attract self-motivated individuals interested in Market & Customer Experience Research. Interns will experience challenging work, gain business insights and network with various leadership and management levels.The summer intern will support the Enterprise Market Research Department serving as a Primary and Secondary researcher, specifically Qualitative and Quantitative Primary research as well as Secondary research. There are five portfolios within EMR, with specific and complementary accountabilities.•The Cross-portfolio strategy ensures the application of EMR solutions to complex business challenges. •Core research incorporates market insights into standard processes.•Experience research provides perspective on how current experiences affect business performance. •Emerging research ensures future strategies are rooted in market trends and potential futures. •Research Operations ensures the efficiency and effectiveness of EMR work and integrations with business partners and vendors.Enterprise Market Research collaborates across Travelers to offer actionable insights for informed business decisions, strategies, and market positioning, enabling profit growth and brand building.This position will report to Managers within Enterprise Market Research and will interact with portfolio and departmental leadership, as well as selected business partners.
What Will You Do?- The Market Research Intern Program provides qualified students an excellent opportunity to gain first-hand business experience and receive valuable on-the-job training. Interns are provided exposure to all levels of management and have the chance to collaborate and network with other development programs during work assignments, and social events.Overall responsibilities:
- Assist with research execution and summary compilation across a variety of topics.
- Performs independent data analysis skills with objectivity.
- Assemble and/or review Excel and Word data files as well as PowerPoint decks for use in business unit client presentations.
- Desired Secondary Research responsibilities/tasks
- Perform market, industry, financial and economic analyses including competitive intelligence.
- Use data from disparate and sometimes conflicting sources to tell stories that bring insights to life for our business partners.
- Desired Primary Research responsibilities/tasks
- Support the development and review of surveys and survey programs.
- Support the development and review of our online community and associated activities.
What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?- Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or greater
- Rising seniors currently enrolled in Undergraduate or Graduate program with a focus on marketing, psychology, sociology, business, marketing, finance, or comparable discipline; graduate student in survey research or related field.
- (Primary Research Only) Experience with SPSS (or similar); Qualtrics, or similar online survey platform, preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Intermediate PowerPoint and Excel skills.
- Detail-oriented and able to manage multiple projects during the same timeframe.
- Having a learner mindset, curiosity, and the ability to think outside the box about the future is a plus.
What is a Must Have?- Obtained or pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree required.
