JOB NAME:
Biological Wastewater Treatment Operator
SHIFT / WORK HOURS:
Rotating: 6 am - 6 pm, 6 pm - 6 am.
SHIFT PREMIUM:
This position is eligible for a shift premium.
REPORTS TO:
This position reports to the Environmental Engineer Manager.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF JOB DUTIES:
1. Adhere to and enforce the plant safety policies, promote safety and set a good example for others to follow.
2. The Waste Treatment Operator has the authority, responsibility, and obligation to prevent non-conformance related to the quality of the treated effluent by the execution of the responsibilities of the job duties outlined in this description.
3. Carry out all duties as assigned by the Engineering Services Manager, Engineer Services Engineers or Environmental Engineer.
4. Maintain all assigned machinery and equipment during and between PM cycles and complete all applicable PM and calibration worksheets.
5. Perform all the testing necessary to monitor the treatment plant effectiveness.
* Includes running testing on ICP for Antimony
6. Maintain all necessary records as outlined by the daily management system for the waste treatment plant.
7. To make operational changes necessary for maintaining the highest degree possible of treatment efficiencies.
8. To make recommendations to improve treatment quality or lower cost.
9. To ensure to the best of his ability that all conditions of the discharge permit are in compliance at all times.
10. Operate sludge belt press at WWTP
11. Understand and make necessary adjustments to polymer for sludge press.
12. Understand WWTP sludge removal process.
TOOLS USED:
* Various mechanical tools (Wrenches, sockets, screwdrivers, etc.)
* Various power tools (Drill, grinder, port-a-band, etc.)
* Voltmeter/amp meter
* Steel Toe, Slip Resistant, Waterproof Boots
* Gloves
* Safety glasses/goggles
* Life preserver when working around basins or the creek
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
* Basic math skills
* Troubleshooting mechanical systems
* Understanding of chemical handling and associated hazards.
* Understanding basic electrical hazards and troubleshooting.
* Knowledge of general safety procedures including proper PPE and 70e
PAY RATES:
$XX.XX / Hr. (D Level), subject to increase based on Biological Wastewater Operator License level.
The operator level is dictated by the South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing, and Regulation (LLR). The requirements include passing examination(s) approved by the licensing board and possessing the required specific work experience.
PPE REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITON:
* Goggles, gloves,
* Safety glasses,
* Slip resistant, electrical safe steel/composite boots.
REQUIREMENTS:
* Candidates must be capable of becoming a licensed SC licensed biological wastewater treatment operator within 2 years of service.
* Must complete 12 hours continuous education training every two years.
* Internal Candidates must have excellent Attendance.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:
* Biological Wastewater Operator License.
* Previous mechanical maintenance experience.
* Experience with MS Word and MS Outlook.
* Basic understanding of pumps, mixers, pH, sampling techniques, chemical feed systems, and lab equipment.
