  • Education:
    • Associate of Applied Science Degree (AAS) in Computer-Aided Drafting and Design (CAD) or civil, or mechanical engineering technology.
    • Equivalent experience without AAS degree - high school graduate and 3+ years of experience in computer aided drafting and/or in electric utility work.
  • Interest in high-voltage transmission/distribution lines. Experience a plus.
  • Ability to effectively read and understand construction drawings.
  • Ability to develop and coordinate design drawings.
  • Firm understanding of design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Microstation.
  • High level of attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment, working with individuals from various offices and in various disciplines.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills, verbal and written, and the ability to multi-task between several projects and priorities at one time.
  • Candidate should be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of PLS-CADD and/or safety codes, utility standards, and regulations (NESC, ASCE IEEE) a plus.
  • Valid Driver's License is required.
Day-to-day job responsibilities:
  • Responsible for creating and revising drawings and documentation for transmission and distribution projects in AutoCAD, from scope documents, engineering sketches, and/or verbal instructions.
  • Preparing bills of material to procure needed materials for projects.
  • Assisting in preparing applications and supporting documentation for engineering permits when necessary.
  • Coordinating with technical personnel to gather and record data for design projects and complete as built and record print revisions from marked drawings.
  • Communication and coordination with multi-disciplinary groups.
  • Document organization and record keeping.
