Apply today!Job DescriptionFluor Marine Propulsion (FMP) – Bettis Laboratory, located in West Mifflin, PA, is a world class research and development facility that supports the United States Naval Nuclear Fleet. An exciting career opportunity is available for a Construction Engineer to join our multi-disciplined Construction Site Engineering group, part of the Bettis Construction Department, responsible for the delivery of projects from conception to closeout. Typically, these projects involve medium-to-large scale renovations, site infrastructure upgrades, and new construction of office buildings, laboratories, and test facilities. Typical projects range in construction cost from $500k to $20+M. The Construction Engineer plays a key role as a member of a project team leading in the development, design, and execution of a wide variety of on-site construction projects. The Construction Engineers work closely with Project Managers, multiple disciplines of Engineers, Contract Administrators, Construction Oversight personnel, End Users, and Subcontractors to deliver infrastructure improvement projects. The Construction Engineer is responsible for challenging technical assignments that allow flexibility in approaching solutions by self-performing design, contracting Architectural Engineering services, or utilizing design-build methods to develop creative engineering solutions that support the needs of the facility. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving the technical process through the development of project functional requirements, preparation of submittals including project documents and/or drawings, specification of materials, reviewing project plans, estimating manpower/costs required to complete tasks and providing field oversight to active projects to ensure compliance with project requirements.
