We are a growing multi-disciplined firm of professional engineers, architects, environmental scientists, geologists, planners and landscape architects headquartered in Syracuse, NY, with branch offices throughout New York, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Connecticut and Maine. B&L specializes in transportation engineering, water supply, wastewater management, solid waste management, land planning and site design, environmental services, facilities engineering, land surveying and asset management. We are currently seeking an entry-level Engineer or Environmental Scientist to focus on hydrologic/hydraulic modeling. Our preferred office locations are Rochester and Syracuse, NY, however, other office locations may be considered for the right candidate. This candidate will be responsible for working on a variety of drainage, stormwater, stream restoration, bridge hydraulics and watershed related projects. Responsibilities would include independently producing reports, conducting critical analysis, performing field data collection tasks, and providing technical input as part of an integrated design team. Duties include:
- Hydrologic and Hydraulic Modeling
- HEC-RAS (2d modeling a plus)
- GeoHEC-HMS
- HydroCAD
- Civil 3D Drainage Modeling
- SWMM or equivalent water quality monitoring
- Stormwater and drainage system design
- Watershed management planning
- Stream restoration design
- Geomorphic assessment
- Shoreline restoration and resiliency planning/design
- Fluvial geomorphology
- Technical reporting
- Regulatory consultation and preparation of permit applications
Requirements
- Candidates should have a Bachelor's Degree in a water resources engineering, environmental engineering or natural science discipline.
- Candidates with knowledge or an interest in hydraulic modeling software with an emphasis on HEC-RAS is a plus.
- Additional knowledge or interest in stormwater and watershed management modeling software is preferred.
- Candidates with technical writing and communication skills along with a familiarity with consulting engineering is a plus.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD Civil3D and GIS software is preferred, but not required.
- This position requires the ability and willingness to work outdoors in varied terrain in all types of weather.
Estimated Pay Range: $60,000 - $75,000/year. Actual compensation may vary based on related work experience, geographical location and market conditions, education/training, certifications, and other credentials, as well as applicable knowledge and skills.
