Job Description:
Position Summary: Lube Technician provides quality maintenance service on guest vehicles including oil changes, tire rotations, lubrication, replacing fluids, tires, wipers and filters, checking routine gauges including tire pressure, transmission and power steering fluid. Goals and Expected Behaviors:1.Increase/improve customer retention and loyalty for the entire dealership and company while achieving excellent customer service scores
  • Greet guests, employees and visitors with a smile in a friendly manner
  • Fulfill commitments
  • Assist guests anytime and anywhere in the dealership
  • Insure guests have a surprisingly great experience
  • Act, speak, dress and behave professionally at all times
  • Anticipate the guests needs by listening and asking clarifying questions
2.Performs maintenance work to vehicles maximizing productivity
  • Plan, organize and maintain efficient work flow
  • Minimize distraction.
  • Refrain from conducting personal business (Facebook, twitter, texting, phone calls during shop hours)
  • Communicates to Service Advisors and Technicians repairs in need of work
3.Maintain CSI standards and contribute to overall shop CSI by performing thorough work
  • Performs lube, oil and filter changes
  • Lubricates joints, idler arm steering knuckles, tie rod ends and ball joints
  • Replaces filters, wipers
  • Services brakes and performs tire rotations
  • Checks battery, air pressure, windshield fluid, transmission fluid and power steering fluid, coolant, replenishing as needed
  • Take responsibility for work orders
  • Maintain shop cleanliness
4.Maintain a safe shop and work in accordance to safety standards
  • Wear safety goggles when using power equipment and working under vehicles
  • Lift and carry objects according to safety procedures
  • Wear slip resistant shoes
  • Ask for assistance when lifting and/or carrying heavy objects
  • Operate power equipment with proper guards and in a manner that the equipment is designed
  • Keep shop clean and free from slip, trip and other hazards
  • Operate vehicles in a safe manner using defensive driving techniques
5.Create value in service provided and the shop
  • Install completed reminder stickers in vehicles
  • Insure vehicle is clean and free from residue or fingerprints
6.Other duties as assignedEssential Functions of the Position
  • Diagnose repair needs on vehicles
  • Ability and knowledge to conduct repair orders and mechanical work on vehicles beyond basic oil and filter changes, tire rotations, wiper and fluid replacement, etc.
  • Operate a phone, computer and other general office equipment
  • Work with the public in a professional and guest centric manner
  • Communicate with guests, vendors, managers and co-workers
  • Answer questions regarding vehicles, the dealership and service
  • Ability to read, understand and follow instructions
  • Ability to drive and operate a motor vehicle safely and within the legal guidelines
Skills, Education and Certification Requirements:
  • Valid in-state driver's license
  • Moderate computer skills and demonstrated ability to learn other programs
  • Ability to effectively build a rapport with others
  • Good communication skills
  • Valid driver's license
  • Acceptable motor vehicle record
  • Organizational and time management skills
  • High School Degree or equivalent experience
Physical Demands
  • Works in a variety of temperatures; periodically exposed to the weather including rain, snow, heat and cold
  • Bends, stoops and goes from a standing position to a squatting position (and vice versa) several times throughout the work shift
  • Pushes, pulls, lifts and carries objects up to 30 pounds frequently
  • Pushes, pulls, lifts and carries objects up to 65 pounds occasionally
  • Uses hands, wrists and arms in repairing vehicles with twisting, grasping and other motions
  • Works in confined spaces, under vehicles and stooped over engines frequently
  • Travels throughout the dealership and lots occasionally on foot and in some circumstances a Company provided golf cart
