Job Type Full-time Description Excel Engineering is seeking a team-oriented, highly motivated Entry-Level Power Studies Engineer in our Power System Studies group for our Mounds View, Minnesota office. We offer full service Electrical and Control System Engineering Consulting services in the US and abroad. Since 1990, Excel Engineering has grown and expanded its service offerings by providing client-focused, engineering solutions. We offer full-service Control Systems, Facilities Electrical, Power System Studies, and Transmission Studies Engineering Consulting services in the US and abroad. Primary Responsibilities The Engineer will be expected to use knowledge of the electrical systems and applicable standards to perform the following tasks including, but not limited to:

  • Perform power system modeling and analysis, including gathering field data.
  • Perform CAD drafting on projects.
  • Load flow, short circuit, and TCC analysis.
  • Prepare plans, designs, and supporting technical specifications.
  • Perform electrical calculations and circuit/system analysis.
  • Make design decisions within Company-established guidelines, procedures, and practices and applies sound basic electrical design/engineering methods to develop designs.
  • Becomes proficient in the understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC), as well as the following software: AutoCAD, SKM, ETAP, and Easy Power.
Requirements Education
  • Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering (power discipline) from an ABET Accredited Institution
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
Qualifications
  • Knowledge of electrical power systems.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and use of AutoCAD software.
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Willing to travel up to 30% of the time
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of arc flash hazards, OSHA standards, and NPFA70E.
  • Two years of hands-on experience with residential, commercial, or industrial electrical systems.
  • Knowledge and familiarity with the National Electric Code (NEC).
  • Experience with power system modeling and analysis software. Specifically, SKM PowerTools for Windows or ETAP.
