Entry/Mid-level Conservators - Mississippi; TemporaryRGA is seeking historic preservation professionals for a gravestone conservation project in Mississippi. Candidates should possess a strong interest in cemetery conservation; hands-on experience with stone, mortar, and brick repair is strongly desired but not required. Work will consist of large and small repairs to gravestones, monuments, and statues of all sizes, and leveling gravestones outdoors in an active cemetery while working as a team under a professional stone conservator.Pay will range from $22 to $32 an hour depending on conservation experience, with candidates at the higher end of the range possessing conservation and supervisory experience and a degree, coursework, or apprenticeship in stone conservation or masonry repair. Single occupancy hotel and per diem will be provided. The field season is anticipated to begin on or around April 1 and run through mid-June.Candidates must be able to lift and transport 75 lbs, and work outdoors in various weather conditions in Mississippi's climate. Daily work will involve lifting and transporting gravemarkers and equipment within an urban cemetery, digging, and positioning oneself low to the ground for long periods of time throughout the day.
