Education Requirements:
Requires a Bachelor's or Technology degree in Engineering or a related specialized area/field, or equivalent (4 years job-related experience). Requires an additional 5+ years of job-related experience, or a Master's degree with 3+ years of job-related experience.
Clearance Requirements:Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at time of hire. Essentially, you'll perform research and engineering laboratory functions involving the layout, building, testing, troubleshooting, and repairing devices, assemblies, subsystems, and systems as well as perform technical activities which impact the proposal, system level design, detail design and manufacture of advanced electronics systems.

What you bring to the table:
- A Bachelor's of Science or Technology degree, a related specialized area or field (or equivalent experience) plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience
- Subject matter expert (SME) in one discipline/field and developing working knowledge in adjacent disciplines/fields

Responsibilities include:
- Oversee and manage the daily operations in the Taunton environmental test facility.
- Conduct hands-on shock, vibration, thermal, humidity and other testing on in accordance with MIL-STD-810 and other applicable specifications.
- Work with a team of engineers and technicians to execute testing.
- Ensure all operations are performed safely, on time and in a professional manner.
- Operate and maintain environmental test equipment including data acquisition systems, environmental chambers, vibration systems and instrumentation.
- Conduct and/or oversee several test projects simultaneously while supporting operation schedules.
- Configure test setups, fixtures and instrumentation per test plans and standards.
- Review test documentation for test readiness.
- Maintain cleanliness of test equipment and test lab.
- Identify, communicate, and mitigate cost, schedule and technical risks.
- Communicate regularly with project engineers and project team leaders.
- Communicate with project customers and government representatives when required.
- Communicate with hardware/software vendors.
- Participate in project proposals (bidding and estimating).
- Participate in quality, security, and environmental, health, and safety audits.
- Prepares, plans and arranges the labor, schedules and equipment required for testing.
- Responsible for the completion of assigned engineering tasks or small projects within budgetary and scheduling guidelines.
- Weekend shifts or overtime are sometimes required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Hands on test and production facility, factory or laboratory experience
- Ability to utilize test instrumentation and control components: pressure transducers, thermocouples, strain gauges, accelerometers, flow meters, load cells, etc.
- Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, diagrams, MIL-STDs, technical requirements, test specifications, schematics, and understand the necessary interfaces.
- Works from the above to perform testing, checkout and troubleshooting functions.
- Strong knowledge of environmental test climatic and dynamic test methods.
- Strong written, verbal, and computer (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) skills
- Knowledge of environmental test equipment: thermal chambers, vibration systems, data acquisition systems, etc.
- Knowledge of and the ability to set up, conduct, and monitor both dynamic and climatic environmental tests.
- The job requires the ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds and the ability to utilize various common hand tools (pliers, screwdrivers, wrenches, etc.) The ability to accurately and legibly record test data gathered from a variety of computer-controlled data acquisition hardware is also necessary.
- General maintenance and repair (mechanical & electrical) of major test equipment is required. This includes annual preventive maintenance and periodic repairs due to equipment failure. A knowledge of electrical systems, hydraulic/compressed gas systems, cryogenic fluids, mechanical systems, and the safety associated when working around this type of equipment is required.
