Under the direction of the Plant Manager, the Manager EHS will develop, modify and implement OSHA and EPA compliance programs at our manufacturing facility. This position will ensure that all federal, state and local regulatory requirements are incorporated into daily operations, projects, programs and training. The Manager EHS will help identify hazardous workplace conditions and ensure necessary records are maintained in accordance with established guidelines. The Manager EHS is responsible for initial medical treatment of injured employees and the management of the Workers Compensation claim that results.

Key Responsibilities:

* Develop and provide technical and administrative direction on all environment, health and safety policies and programs applicable to manufacturing. Lead local safety pillar team implementing and driving continuous improvement initiative.

* Oversee and ensure compliance with all OSHA and EPA regulations including, but not limited to, Hearing Conservation, Respiratory Protection, Hazard Communication and CPR, First Aid and AED requirements.

* Review internal policies and practices to ensure they are current and appropriate.

* Conduct hazard, risk and ergonomic assessments and develop new or, where necessary, amend policies and procedures.

* Analyze incident reports and evaluate injury case studies based on available facts. Track incident metrics and apply findings. Lead injury and incident inquiries and evaluations.

* Prepare training materials and programs in support of required regulatory programs.

* Work jointly with operations and engineering to improve operational efficiencies and reduce regulatory compliance expense.

* Provides support and assistance to plant management.

* Workers compensation claims management, reporting and transitional duty assignments.

* Communicating areas of concern to site personnel to improve overall performance.

* Responsible for supervising the 2nd shift Health & Safety Supervisor

* Responsible for direction, coordination and assigning Transitional Duty assignments to employees in accordance with work restrictions.

**This role reports to the Plant Manager with a dotted line to the Senior Manager Environment, Health, and Safety. This position may require working up to 12 hours per day, 7 days a week, including weekends and holidays.**

**Basic Qualifications**

* Bachelors degree in an EHS related program or 4 years of experience in an EHS role

* Knowledge of EPA and OSHA regulations and compliance program management

* Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

* Must be able to bend, stoop, climb, reach and lift.

* Must be able to stand on hard, wet, slippery surfaces for extended periods of time.

* Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

**Preferred Qualifications**

* 5 years experience implementing regulatory compliance in a manufacturing environment

* Experience with OSHA and EPA regulations and compliance program management

* Experience conducting EHS training

* PSM/RMP experience with anhydrous ammonia

* RCRA hazardous waste compliance and hazardous materials handling experience

* Experience in food manufacturing environment

* Excellent leadership, interpersonal communication, organizational and time management skills

* Bilingual in Spanish
