Position Summary
The Manager of EH&S is responsible for complex technical work within a range of EH&S disciplines. The Manager of EH&S will use human and organizational principles to drive ownership of safety, health and environmental impacts, with a focus on engagement, learning from events, training, and systems-level problem solving. In addition, they support day-to-day operations by managing several EH&S processes including developing and implementing safety programs and participating in the auditing process. Managers of EH&S play a key role in the incident reporting and analysis process and work closely with multiple business units to develop and implement corrective actions preventing reoccurrence.
The Manager of EH&S is responsible for establishing health and safety policies and procedures which ensure compliance with company, customer, and government regulations within any of the following functions: health and safety, industrial hygiene, or environmental protection. This position requires working with chemicals and the candidate needs to be able to maintain compliance with various safety regulations, such as wearing proper PPE. The successful candidate is a self-starter and can thrive in a collaborative environment.
Responsibilities and Duties
· Lead day-to-day EH&S operations and process management
· Lead and build the team to establish and improve EHS processes and programs
· Participate in pre-job planning and verification of controls/safeguards before new, high risk, and non-standard work begins.
· Develop and maintain strong communication between all organizations within factory production operations
· Partner with other business units to address EH&S needs unique to Cell Manufacturing & Engineering.
· Analyze incident trends and use risk-assessment methods to identify continuous improvement projects that reduce injury, illness and environmental impact events.
· Manage the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of EH&S management system processes
· Ensure compliance with local, state and federal environmental, health, and safety regulations
· Lead incident analyses to determine root cause, prevention, and necessary corrective measures
· Perform audits and inspections, document results, and ensure actions to closure.
· Design safe workspaces and create policies for employees to follow that minimize job-related hazards
· Provide technical support for EH&S programs such as LOTO, Hazard Communication, Emergency Response, Fall Protection, Respiratory Protection, Hearing Conservation, etc.
· Develop and conduct education and training on EH&S principles
· Drive and ensure the EH&S Management System elements are applied effectively.
· Develop new procedures, inspections, training, or reports as needed.
· Review equipment and space designs to provide feedback on EH&S impacts
· Manage the EHS Management System to ensure trainings, inspections, and audits are completed in a timely manner.
· Analyze air monitoring data to determine TWA employee exposure to TVOC, noise, and other air quality indicators.
· Conduct qualitative respirator fit tests and ensure timely recertification.
· Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree in safety, environmental health, engineering, or related field.
· Minimum of 5 years' experience in safety management preferred.
· Knowledge of local, state and federal safety regulations.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
· Able to lead, motivate and evaluate employees.
· Knowledge of incident investigation procedures.
· Knowledge of OSHA regulations.
· Proficient in MS Office Suite.
Physical Demands
· Although primary work will be conducted in a production environment, on occasions the employee may be exposed to moderately loud environments from machinery and manufacturing processes, use of proper PPE may be assigned and worn.
· Individual should be able to sit or stand at and operate a workstation.
· Ability to walk/travel within the facilities for inspection activities.
· On occasions the employee may need to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
