Job Description:
Plan, organize, and oversee the safety function at the plant to maintain an effective accident prevention program while ensuring compliance with corporate, OSHA, and other safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Auditing and Compliance:
- Manage PSM and corporate audits.
- Oversee OSHA Voluntary Protection Program and ensure continuous compliance.
- Conduct internal/external HSE and PSM audits.
- Safety Management:
- Administer the Structured Safety Process for the site.
- Manage the Emergency Response Program.
- Conduct root cause investigations and implement corrective actions.
- Manage process hazard analysis/HAZOPs and the Management of Change (MOC) program.
- Monitor industrial hygiene and manage the Drug and Alcohol Testing Program.
- Observe work practices to ensure compliance with safety protocols and protective equipment usage.
- Incident Management:
- Initiate accident investigations and develop remedial actions.
- Maintain incident statistics to guide accident prevention measures.
- Act as a liaison with government agencies and insurance inspectors, addressing inquiries, inspections, and recommendations.
- Training and Communication:
- Provide training to employees on safety policies and procedures.
- Maintain clear communication with employees and their families in case of workplace injuries.
- Prepare and distribute HSE-related reports as needed.
- Supervision and Leadership:
- Directly supervise HSE department staff, including hiring, training, performance evaluation, and resolving issues.
- Support the team with safety training, vendor management, and special projects.
- Environmental Management:
- Manage environmental permitting programs and amendments.
- Oversee compliance audits for bio-methanol production and related processes.
- Additional Duties:
- Support other departments and administrative personnel as needed.
- Represent the company professionally to clients and vendors.
- Perform other tasks as assigned.
What You Bring:
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or a safety-related field required (or 10+ years of related experience).
- Minimum 7 years of safety experience.
- At least 5 years in the manufacturing or industrial sector.
Preferred Certifications:
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP).
Schedule and Travel:
- Standard 40-hour workweek (8:00 AM – 5:00 PM CST) with occasional extended hours.
- Less than 10% travel required.
