Job Summary: Responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable environmental regulatory laws and requirements and with overall division Environmental and Health and Safety policies and practices. Responsible for the duties of the Environmental Health and Safety Management System (EHSMS) Management Representative. Responsible to ensure compliance with state health and safety regulations.

What you will be doing:

  • Works with the Human Resources (HR) department to design, implement, communication and enforcement of health and safety programs.
  • Works closely with the Corporate Environmental Health and Safety Director to design, communicate, update, and enforce corporate environmental policy.
  • Communicates applicable federal and state regulations/issues.
  • Conducts periodic review/inspection/audit visits to each facility, reporting observations and recommendations to corporate management.
  • Investigates and reports regarding environmental incidents.
  • Conducts in-depth physical inspections of various facilities, within the Division and other facilities as directed by Corporate Management, to involve periodic extended walking, stooping, climbing, and the use of various test instruments and tools.
  • Assists in facility closures, site assessments and specific issue-related corrective actions as directed by the Corporate EHS Director or Division Management
  • Must be able to build and maintain professional working relationships with all levels of plant operations and staff and with the various Vishay divisions, plants, and corporate departments.
  • Must be able to work well through and with a wide range of individuals concerning environmental regulatory and optimum manufacturing processes.
  • Must be able to design, “sell” and obtain compliance regarding EHS programs.
  • Must have excellent problem resolution and negotiating skills as well as high compliance-related orientation.
  • Excellent motivational, interpersonal and communication skills are required.
  • Responsible for guiding and coordinating the activities of the EHS Contacts.
  • Responsible for the permitting, licensing, and internal division enforcement involving compliance with all current and forthcoming EHS regulations for all assigned divisions facilities.
  • May negotiate (with the assistance of the Corporate EHS Director) with regulatory agencies regarding enforcement, emission standards, and fines directly effecting corporate profitability and penalties which may be levied against the company and/or responsible corporate management staff.
  • Assist Corporate Product Development and Operations in developing alternatives to hazardous chemicals used in production, develop cost-effective waste disposal methods, and provide engineering cost-benefit analysis.

What you will bring along:

  • Five to seven years' experience in an EHS capacity.
  • Two years' experience within Vishay structure or in a comparable manufacturing operation is highly desirable.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in EHS required.
  • Initial hazardous waste management procedures (RCRA) training within six months of the appointment of position dealing with hazardous waste and subsequent annual refresher thereafter.
  • Initial emergency contingency plan implementation training within six months of the appointment of position dealing with hazardous waste and subsequent annual refresher thereafter.
  • Possible PFT, and Initial DOT Training with refresher training every 3 years.
